Hi all,

For those interested, we are currently offering a special promotion for domain transfers in to Fabulous. Until January 31, 2009, all transfers are at cost, prices as follows:

COM: $7.06
NET: $5.18
ORG: $6.95
INFO: $6.95

The only requirement is that your account must be pre-funded via wire transfer or parking revenue. If you want to take advantage of this promotion please contact your Account Rep directly to have your account changed to the special pricing plan.

Recent news of domains being hijacked highlights the importance of having your domains registered with a registrar which offer high levels of security, keeping your domain assets safe.

If you aren't already aware, we offer superior domain security with the following features offered free:

Challenge / Response Security:

The Challenge/Response security system provides extra protection for the domain transfer, domain push and domain sales processes.

Challenge/Response is a security mechanism that allows you to supply the answers to a preset list of questions, in order to verify the identity of a user before they can access these sensitive areas of your account, including Transfers, Pushes, Sales and Name Servers.

This is an optional feature which has been designed to decrease the likelihood of domain theft should your account password be stolen or otherwise compromised.

Executive Lock:

An Executive Lock adds another level of protection to a domain name.

The Executive lock effectively freezes a domain's registry settings, and can only be removed by Fabulous management after any special conditions specified by the client have been fulfilled.

A domain name under Executive lock cannot:

* Be transferred out to another Registrar
* Be pushed to another Fabulous account
* Have changes to its Nameserver settings
* Have the Registrar-Lock status removed

If you have any questions or need assistance with the security features we offer, please don't hesitate in contacting me.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike, how long will it take to transfer the name ?

Hi Charley,

It really depends on the losing registrar. In saying that, typically transfers take 5-7 days, but can be longer.

Cheers,

every domain I transfer from godaddy to fabulous happens in 1-2 days, you have to go in "my account" at godaddy under "domain transfers" and hit "accept transfer" after it is submitted which speeds things up if godaddy is the losing registrar.

What happens if the transfer occurs during the expiring period ? For e.g. Domain transfer initiated today, domain name expiring 2-3 days.

Mike,
Transfer fee aside, what is your current pricing on .com renewals.

Also, what do you charge for privacy?

Thanks
Rod

I have a question, too. Do you charge different prices for bulk domain name owers and for those with fewer domain names? If so, what's the difference?

Okay, I had two questions. :D

Same question here: I might be interested to open an account with Fabulous, but I have always refrained to do it, since the annual registration costs are quoted as nearly $30 per year per domain name for those who do not want to apply for a monetization account. Of course, if the renewal/registration prices would be more reasonable by today's standards, I would reconsider.

Without the current promotion normal cost for a monetization/parking account holder is...

.COM $7.30
.NET $5.35
.ORG $7.25
.INFO $7.25

I was wondering how Fabulous handles complaints regarding domains, for example I know Godaddy will just charge a $199 fee even if it's a bogus claim without letting the registrant reply first or other registrars that will give a domain up to a single bogus lawsuit (like the Kansas lawsuit)

Please advise
Thanks

Yes, but it seems they accept people selectively for monetization/parking accounts - at least this is how I understand the intro on their website. Suppose I just want at first to move a few domain names, but not to apply for parking, I understand that the costs would be more than $20 per domain name...

Or is there a misunderstanding? do they basically accept anybody applying for a parking/monetization account?

Thank you for any clarification on that topic!

some parking companies let everyone in, other parking companies fabulous, parked, domain sponsor, trafficZ, sedo pro etc... each have their own set of standards as most higher end parking companies are generally looking for quality .com commercial domains that would bring in some form of type in traffic, fabulous retail price is high as they are mainly looking to work with domainers with hundreds or thousands of domains, there really is no set in stone qualification on number of domains for any of these companies as quality usually trumps quantity, send Mike a private message and see what he can do for you based on your plans.

Thank you, Spare Domains! Yes, I understand this: basically, I was approaching Fabulous considering it as a REGISTRAR, since it enjoys a very good reputation as a reliable and secure registrar. But after reading your remarks, I realize that it should be seen primarily as a PARKING company with registrar facilities included.

Yes, it might be a goo idea to send a PM to Mike. Or I might stick to my original project of consolidating most of my domains with Dynadot and two other registrars - the prices would be similar. I will think about it.

fabulous is kinda an all in 1 solution, registrar, parking company and their control panel is quite nice and really geared toward a domainer along with great security, I am currently consolidating their way and am pleased so far, if you find some domains don't perform the best at fabulous parking then put them where they do perform, they don't kick you out of the registration rates if 100% of your domains are not parked there, good luck in whatever you decide.

Ok, SpareDomains has already covered most of the questions, thanks SpareDomains! But I thought I would chime in anyway. :D

As long as the domain is transferred prior to expiry, you should be fine. Also, some registrars even allow for you to initiate a transfer after the domain has expired, so long as it's not in the Redemption period. Of course, this is on a registrar by registrar basis.

Unfortunately we don't have whois privacy available, but hope to have it implemented early 2009. More information as it comes to hand.

There are two types of accounts, Parking (with the wholesale domain pricing) and Registration (retail pricing).

Retail pricing is $29.95 across the board, for all extensions.

See pricing earlier in my reply.

Each legal matter would need to be taken on a case by case basis.

The important thing to look at are the following:

  • The Registrar (being Queensland, Australia)
  • The registrants whois information

Basic overview at what we look at is as follows:

  • Registrar jurisdiction (Being Queensland Australia)
  • Registrants jurisdiction (as per the whois information)
  • If the court request was from a court in Queensland, then we would need to abide by that court order
  • If the court order was from a court of the Registrants jurisdiction (eg: Registrant from the State of Kentucky and the court order from the state of Kentucky) then it is highly likely we would need to comply.
  • If the court order was from a court other than the Registrants jurisdiction (eg: Registrant from the State of Kentucky and the court order from the state of California or another country) then we would seek our Registrants instructions on how they wanted to proceed and that is how we would proceed.

We do review each new application manually. Basically we are looking for portfolios that have on average 50+ domains. We are primarily interested in English language domains that are generic and commercial in nature and that have type-in traffic.

If anyone is looking to take advantage of this discount transfer promo, or needs an account, feel free to PM me, or drop me an email mike at fabulous dot com.

Let me know if there's any other questions.

Cheers,

Mike

Thank you Mike,

It is much better to know that you do not just fall for a simple bogus claim and will actually work with the registrant on how they want to proceed.

All the Best

Thank for the answers. From what I've learned, though, I'd have to pass on this offer. The cost isn't the deciding factor, but the tiered pricng is. I'd have no problem paying the average (or even higher) between the two levels knowing it would apply to everyone, no matter the quality or quantity of the domain names.

Hi BlackDiamond,

I'm not sure I entirely understand your reasoning. From my experience, you will find most (if not all) registrars have tiered pricing depending on the volume of domains one owns.

One analogy would be subscriptions (doesn't matter what, could be a magazine, gym, etc). The regular user (wholesale account in this case) that has a subscription will get a cheaper price than those who use the service (retail account) every now and then.

At the end of the day I respect your decision and wish you all the best.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!

Mike
