I went to renew a .tv name today and the price at its current registrar is $70. I'd like to transfer it to @namesilo ($26.99) however it expired on 31st August. I've read you can usually transfer names after expiry, but might there be any problems? Thanks

    Should be no any problems.
Registrars have no any rights to block such transfers.
Unlock it, get AUTH code - and start at the gaining registrar.

well.. you never know with some cctlds..

I think stuff like .eu needs to be renewed before 3 days prior to expiry.. else its too late.. or you pay extra.. or something like that..

all this to say.. be carefuly with cctlds.. as some can play by their own rules.. best to check terms for each extension prior to expiry.. or just renew/transfer before expiry.. u don't have to worry about that for org/com/net etc.. or even cctld like .co... but other things I'd check for sure.. else there is always some risk.

I lost two .eu domains few months ago.. cause it was my first time owning them and I didn't know they had to be renewed 3 days or so prior to expiry.. or they're gone. (or maybe there was big penalty to recover after.. I can't remeber any more.. but either one)

for your case, the best thing to do is go to namesilo and start transfer.. it checks if all is okay.. if it isn't it won't let you go ahead and pay..

and unlock first too.. if there is a problem.. it won't let u unlock either

u didn't say where your tv is at now..but u can always ask their support if all good to go too

    gl

    .TV is managed by Verisign...
Absolutely the same rules as for their .com/.net

Thanks. It's at fasthosts. They're giving me up to 40 days past expiry to renew (if that makes any difference?)

    No, this doesn't matter.

If you can't unlock and/or get AUTH code in their panel - then ask their Support...

Seems like other NamePros already gave you a couple of pointers but yes, you should be able to unlock your domain at your current registrar and initiate the transfer. You may need to email their support team to get the Authentication code but they should give it to you without problems. If you need any additional support, pls contact us at [email protected] for the fastest replies or check out our support article: https://www.namesilo.com/Support/Transfer-Manager
