Expired domain - Backorder?

The domain I have been watching for a client has now expired. Previously there was a traffic page there from register.com that sent you to their partner snapnames if you were interested in procuring it. Now there is nothing there.
Whois shows that the name expired on April 7, which was about 37 days ago.
Snapnames still shows it as backordered. Should I go ahead and backorder through snapnames or are they more likely to snap it up and jack up the price?
Should I also use pool and namejet? I don't think there is a lot of interest in it. We already have the .net and trademarking is in process. I did some searching about a month ago for it, but not on register.com. =)
Advice would be very much appreciated. :-/

Is the domain name at register.com ? Then it should land at snapnames auctions (priority partner). I believe it takes roughly 35 days after expiry date for the name to show up at snap. It is useless to backorder elsewhere, unless the domain is dropping (being deleted).
If you look up the domain at snapnames do you see a date the name would be available ?

Thank you Kath! I didn't realize you had responded to this. I thought I marked the question to be notified of an answer - sorry!
Yes it is registered by register.com.
I cannot find anything about the availability date on snapnames. Where do you look for that info? It just says backordered.
I think it may have already dropped as I get a "failed to open page" message when I go to the domainname.com. It still says backordered on snapnames.com. 35 days have passed - it expired on April 7th.

I have now backordered the domain with the minimum bid...
I have read previously that I should also try with namejet...

Okay - the whois says it is still in redemption period

If the name has entered redemption status it's on the road to deletion. Your backorder was placed too late.

Darn - now what? I just posted the backorder on all three sites. I'm so confused. I just read another post where you suggested that someone backorder when it was in redemption... :-/

expired->registar grace period 30 days->auction period 5-10 days
if sold- domain transfered to new owner

if not sold-> and PPC more than 6$/year registrar keep it
if not sold-> and PPC less than 6$/year registrar delete domains and it enters
Redemption Grace period at this point it goes to deletion

My Pool backorder says it is deleting today on my backorder list but it is not on the list of deleting domains on their site - now what? Whois still says redemption period.

Here is a link to a graphic explanation of the domain expiration cycle:

What I mean: when the name has expired it would have been available at snapnames first but no backorder was placed so register.com let it drop as nobody seemed to be interested then.
Now you should backorder at several places including snapnames because the domain is going to drop (be deleted from the registry). This is the right thing to do in this situation :)

Thanks! Now my Pool backorder account no longer says deleting today, only a delete button to delete my backorder. So now I wait another 30 days?

Here is a fabulous free tool for monitoring domain names - they will email you when the status changes on the domains you are watching:
