Trying to decide if I should make a website with WindowDesigns.com, auction it or find a private buyer. Any insight into the appraisal amount would be appreciated.
Thanks folks!

This is a nice end-user name to promote.
You audience will be limited, but there are enough to keep you busy.
Most likey in the $1,xxx range to an interested party.
I would start right here: http://www.windowdesignsinc.com/

It is a good name, but if windowdesignsinc.com were smart, it would not be paying $1K for the name. It is not like the OP will create a business from just the domain name and take away windowdesignsinc 's business in North Carolina.

Sheesh. Especially if they read this post...
I don't know how you can say what is or isn't smart for a company you're not involved in. 1K is not a lot of money to have a much better domain name. That alone is worth 1K, unless you are really financially struggling.
Not likely that someone will set up shop in the same area of North Carolina with the same name, true. But entirely likely that a similarly named business with use the domain to take top spot in Google. Who the heck wants to have to say this to a customer:
"You can find us on the net at mycompanyinc.com. Don't forget the inc, because mycompany.com is another business. We're usually just below them in Google."
People spend 1000 bucks for a lot worse reasons than this. Dinner with the in-laws, for example. A couple bottles of wine. A couple hours with a call girl. A company domain like this is a bargain by comparison.
