Trying to decide if I should make a website with WindowDesigns.com, auction it or find a private buyer. Any insight into the appraisal amount would be appreciated.

Thanks folks!

Agreed with Biggie. x,xxx, possibly low xx,xxx to an end user. Could apply to either commercial glaziers, residential windows or blinds.

This is a nice end-user name to promote.

You audience will be limited, but there are enough to keep you busy.

Most likey in the $1,xxx range to an interested party.

I would start right here: http://www.windowdesignsinc.com/

I'll be tying to contact folks like this and those spending Ads on the keywords. Hopefully someone will see value in it somewhere. Thanks for the help.

It is a good name, but if windowdesignsinc.com were smart, it would not be paying $1K for the name. It is not like the OP will create a business from just the domain name and take away windowdesignsinc 's business in North Carolina.

Sheesh. Especially if they read this post...

I don't know how you can say what is or isn't smart for a company you're not involved in. 1K is not a lot of money to have a much better domain name. That alone is worth 1K, unless you are really financially struggling.

Not likely that someone will set up shop in the same area of North Carolina with the same name, true. But entirely likely that a similarly named business with use the domain to take top spot in Google. Who the heck wants to have to say this to a customer:

"You can find us on the net at mycompanyinc.com. Don't forget the inc, because mycompany.com is another business. We're usually just below them in Google."

People spend 1000 bucks for a lot worse reasons than this. Dinner with the in-laws, for example. A couple bottles of wine. A couple hours with a call girl. A company domain like this is a bargain by comparison.

????

If they were smart....they would pay $1K in the blink of an eye to secure the name for their business.

As Domainace already said: What sounds better and will be remembered easier?

WindowDesignsInc.com or WindowDesigns.com?

This is a no-brainer here.

If I was the OP, my bottom of the barrel price for this name would be 1K and nothing less (end-user pricing).

I don't disagree with your assessment because people do irrational things when it comes to perceptions. AND windowdesigns.com is definitely worth more than $1000 to another real window design company, but it should not to windowdesignsinc.

My point is that if the domain is pixeldesigns vs pixeldesignsinc, then the shorter name would obviously win. But we are not talking about intellectual property businesses that can be performed from anywhere, we are talking about a business type that requires face to face and on site work. Unless the OP has the expertise and willing to put down a windows design business in NC's and the surrounding areas to take business away from the original business, how will owning or not owning windowdesigns.com change anything with their current business (ignoring that the OP will likely face local litigation for trademark infringement)? So what if somebody in California owns the domain and spend money getting it to the top ranking, can he actually do design windows, would he fly to NC to consult on a project?

Again, windowdesigns.com is worth more than $1K, but IMO, there is no concrete business reason for windowdesignsinc.com, a company specializes in local/onsite work, to get that domain now. If they do want to use the new domain name, they will have to redirect all their current links to the new domain and redo their SEO ($$$). If they don't want to do that, then they would just redirect windowdesigns.com to their current site. Basically, paying $1K or whatever for direct type-ins of windowdesigns.com traffic.

But they windowdesignsinc.com likely will pay anyway because as you said, $1K is not that much.

Again, windowdesigns.com definitely worth more than $1K to another window designs business.

Nice domain name!

I reckon there are end-users out there who'll be interested in this.

Low to mid $x,xxx

Sell to a reseller for mid to high $xxx (If I had a buyer I'd make you an offer LOL)

I agree with the above that $x,xxx is attainable and should be a very easy bar to clear with this name. I also though about interior designers when I read this name. Something that you can try is watch some of these house updates, design, etc shows and usually the host has information for contacting him/her. I think it would go great in a portfolio of any company dealing with design and or windows.

Good luck and remember you may get a few replies saying "no" that's normal just keep plugging away!
