Heard about this last night on my way to work, had a chuckle to myself because i got caught out the same a while ago with Orange here in the uk!!

Not to the same extent cost wise but similar situation, even had an email from Orange support saying I could do it, ie use it as a modem!!! This was my get out clause!!!

Still laugh it now!!

They don't make it clear though on a lot of stuff on mobiles, it is designed to trick and catch you out.

they should call you and check up on you long before it gets that high, when your prior billings are at normal house hold levels.

Hopefully he can fight it an win. Some of these companies are out to cheat, and they often get away with it because they may be the largest provider of the service in the area. But you're right Johname, they should have checked on him; I doubt a billionaire would even accept that charge .

From 80 000 $ suddenly they decided to want only 3 000 $ If they are right the case will go in court and they will pretend for "real sum" If someone due me 80 000$ I'll want to receive 80 000 $ not 3 000$

This makes me feel alot better about getting my $300 phone bills monthly.. and this has happened before in Canada with a telus mobility client, not being told about the restrictions and than later on getting a xx,xxx bill.

I read this in my local paper (in Canada). . .and was pretty astounded.

But as someone mentioned, companies don't really make things clear to you and so you think you are fine and then you get a big bill.

It's a total joke if you ask me. How can a business treat someone like that. I bet they never expected so much bad press and I also bet they will drop the charges because of all the bad publicity. They didn't even warn him via sms even although they are a communications company. Thats what the joke is.
