Have you ever dropped a name (intentionally) then someone registers it then tries to sell it back to you?

So recently I done away with Domainivate (my old user name, website etc). As I had it registered in other popular tld's .net .info .org etc I just let them expire back in July. I kept the .com though.

So I get an email today.....

Hello
My name is ..... and I have recently got hold of domainivate(net).
Funds are a bit short so I am thinking of releasing it for a small fee.
Would you be interested?

This is the first time this has ever happened to me and it made LOL. Has it ever happened to you? if it has, please comment below.

I offered to sell her the .com but still not heard back.

back in the days of big ppc checks from poker names. i regged quite a few generic typos


some got decent traffic and others didn't

the one's i dropped found their way back, in the form of domainer spam emails

in their attempts to sell, they would describe how this name could generate traffic and so and so, when i knew for a fact, it was worthless.

Happens all the time. They don't actually own the domains, they just spam potential buyers of pending deletes. Sometimes I think I should pretend I want it., so the spammers waste their money , but I don't fell like wasting my time.

Let me tell you how much I love the name BrandJitsu. I read a post earlier from you today and then had to go to the supermarket. I can't tell you how many times I repeated BrandJitsu in the car. It is so catchy that I kept wanting to repeat the name. Great names stick in the minds of others. Nice job!
