.EU transfers not possible?

I have a confirmed sale with Sedo but but now it seems that there is a problem with the transfer of .EU domains. Here the letter I got from Jay Finnan at SEDO in this regard.

"The .eu registry is not set up for transfers. They honestly did not plan for people buying and selling them on an aftermarket and currently don't have transfer system in place. Our transfer team is speaking with them and hopes to get transfer protocols soon but it will be at least another couple of weeks before they are ready. We're definitely not dragging our feet here, we never do for any transaction. But we cannot execute a transfer ourselves. The registry has to be ready."

How bloody shortsighted from the Eurid registry.
And with a buyer that can not be found and seems to have been a prankster this all makes for great news.

Latest: My registrar told me that eurid should be ready for transfers next week.
Will wait and hope all comes right.

Thatś the official line from EUrid? I always had a low opinion of EUrid and its technical competency but that is really off the wall.

The TRADE aspect looked a bit strange - as if it was meant (on first glance) to facilitate the moving of domains between registrars rather than registrants. Though it may be there to facilitate such a move. The big question is if the EUrid mob has even implemented it or has launched a half complete system.

How bloody shortsighted from the Eurid registry.
These jerks should never have gotten the contract. It is a tribute to EU incompetence that they were even considered.

A potential interim solution would be to change the contact and nameserver details and leave the registrant details until last or until the EUridiots get a a system in place to facilitate owner transfer.

haha...that's awesome...they shouldn't allow transfer of domains for EU..that would be great. Domain speculators would be so screwed.

Labrocca why the glee about this. Why would you want domain speculators to be screwed. I,ll have you know that I have invested money that I could ill afford into getting my .eu names in the hope of getting myself and my wife out of a dark, zomber long running period of intermittant joblessness and moneyproblems all due to circumstances beyond our control. We were hoping to get a bit of light shine into our lives because of this oppertunity. Not great wealth but just some money for a little relief and a little nest-egg later on. Now you come with your Ha Ha. You should think a bit more clearly before making such callous and potentially hurtful remarks on this forum. You must be aware that there many of us who frequent this forum that have a diifferent perspective on this .eu thing and have money and hopes tied up in it. Do we wish for you to be screwed? I dont think so. Grow up Labrocca, such statements dont belong here.
Ps. It has caused much pain to me and my wife. We were ecstatic that we managed to sell one domain for euro1200. Now it appears that it was a false offer as Sedo cannot trace the buyer anymore. The hurt this has caused me after promising my wife a weekend at a local resort in my joy that we had sold a domain is deep. The dissapointment of my wife is even greater.
And all you can say is "haha...that's awesome...they shouldn't allow transfer of domains for EU..that would be great. Domain speculators would be so screwed.

My comment was not on you personally. I just don't consider myself that much of a speculator vs a developer. So my motivation should be clear...I don't like domain speculators that park domains...waiting for guys like me to make them some outrageous offer. My personal belief is that parked domains should be deleted....or possibly registrations fees greatly increased to prevent these speculations and just doing nothing with a domain for years on end. I find it rather annoying. I didn't register 1 .eu name..I am not a EU citizen and believe I have no right to get an EU domain.

Binaryman...PM me your paypal address...I will send you a small donation...you can have lunch on me tomorrow.

You need to think before you speak. Ignorance and omniscience are a contradiction.

That they did not plan for people to buy and sell them is Bull. 100% BS.

THB i think its good...yes, EurID screwed up, but EU domains werent ment to be traided...it was ment for Europeans only, just like US domains for USA. I've noticed alot of stupid comments from USA residents regarding the EU restrictions and why should Europeans be alowed to register .coms and such...USA is in no way the "lead" in domains or internet industry, and i think that some people need to realise this.

The non ability to transfer EU domains is most likely intentional to prevent people profiting from their mass greed buys...

It is called free trade. Either you are for it, or you are for insider, shady dealing fake-tm, import quotas, I'll only play with my friends, type of business.

if eurid doesnt allow domains transfer... then i remove all (well some) the bad things i said about them... well done! in a year all the stolen domains will be available again for de eu citizen. That was a smart decision... i hope its true :)

Exactly...I think it's a very smart move if they do not allow transfers.

Carlton-I was thinking before I spoke...I have said similar things for a long time. It's my opinion. You don't have to agree or like it. I see ZERO benefit to the internet from parked domains. The surfer is basically fooled into clicking a link and the domain owner getting some cents for it. There is a reason why the search engines do not index parked pages...because they hold NO VALUE to surfers. Parked domains are a waste of good real estate. It's like a parking lot in Times Square. Yeah some people need to park but a museum, restaurant. or a theatre would be much better. You can disagree all you want but saying my belief is ignorant is ignorant on your part.

If it is really their intention not to allow transfers they could at least have made this clear from the beginning. Not after everybody went and registered the .eu domains.

But nobody would have bought them if they told everyone ;)

That would mean everyone would need a registar account from ever registar possible. That is funny.
