I also just hand registered CarAuto.loans and AutoCar.loans I kinda feel like I just hit the trifecta. Just a couple of things I'll share;

1. Home.loans according to Namebio sold for 500K January 21, 2018

2. EquityHome.loans appraises for $600 at valuate.com aka Estibot aka Epik
CarAuto.loans appraises for $520 at valuate.com aka Estibot aka Epik
AutoCar.loans appraises for $80 at valuate.com akd Estibot aka Epik

Strange? Because names like these usually appraise for "0" at Estibot etc.

3. Donuts is the originator of the .loans extension, and they handled the 500K Home.loans transaction. If Home.loans is worth anywhere close tt 500K, what might EquityHome.loans be worth?

4. While Bulloney may still list them for sale on the conspicuous venues, it's his intention to take them directly contacts/end users in the finance field.

Feel free to comment or appraise, but please do take into account my research. Thanks

I think you are right.

I know most on here don't like the extensions in which Bulloney purchases/registers,but I think he has made some good choices with quite a few of the names I've seen.

I read previously on here that he has over 1k domains,I think he should waste no time in getting at least a good percentage of them listed on godaddy, sedo etc etc...

As other members have said here,''if you have enough domains it's just a numbers game'' so I really can see him turning profit soon enough.
Cruncher....yes I do have a little over a thousand domains with about 550 of them being .coms, and the other 500 being nTLD's. While I have a commitment for $5,000 to buy one of my .com's that comes with a development/business plan, I may throw in a few of my nTLD's that are appropriate for this guys business's.
The question is exactly how I'm to report it when the time comes...of course, I have to have the buyers approval to report it. In the interim, I'm making extremely slow progress getting my domains listed, but it should all come together by the end of March. I own another business (a specialty tax business) where the returns needed to be filed by February 15th, and I'm tying up all the loose ends now. Finally, I do need to focus more on selling the domains like EquityHome.loans listed here, but I'm having lunch tomorrow with a mortgage broker who has been lending money to homeowners for over 35 years. He's not one to buy my financial names, but he is the one to get me in front of the decision makers. Thanks Cruncher

@Bulloney You have some good news, I mean you got a gem fortunate the extension is popping up in ads now by people in business. If the renewal is low may be worth holding if it's really high you best get developed quick or offer it cheap buy now.. search the ones that are in use and ask if they would be interested. You never know?
Thanks NameZest...I picked up a couple more .loans today SportsCar.loans and SailBoat.loans. and I just requested appraisal's for those names a few hours ago. I was able to pick these names up for 6.88 each (don't think I can say where?), but they renew at around $70 a year from now. Thanks NameZest!

Thanks Mitok....did you check on NamePros to see how many sales there are with names starting with "Equity"? Did you happen to consider the names themselves? I only ask because I've been in business for myself for 50+ years, and some of those names are very comparable to EqutyHome.loans.

The last thing I'll mention is that I intend to present my domain to the folks who bought Home.loans for 500K January 21, 2018. On the one hand, I make my own luck:xf.wink:, but on the other hand, I may just win the Jackpot:xf.grin: Thanks again.Mitok...you've been relevant.

you would be talking about Blake Janover ... anyways, donโ€™t let these appraisals get you down, just absorb them like a sponge and use them to your benefit !

I just acquired Mortgage.Loans ~ I certainly did not pay registaration fee for it ... I think if youโ€™re going to target an extension in GTLDs you have to aim for primary keywords or something that not just you understand, but everyone around you ...

I wonโ€™t say itโ€™s easy, I once saw privatelimo.com for $4000 and I wanted to jump on it. because privatejet.com sold to $35,000,000 ... lol, you certainly learn a lot in this game, just make sure youโ€™re on the winning side ! ;)

My 2 cents

Still curious why you mention these automated appraisals all the time in multiple threads, lets see if you answer the question?

We are still waiting @Bulloney Do you want to know why a lot of new domainers keep mentioning automated appraisals and also keep using them like you do. Deep down they know the value of their names. They get appraisals from other people on the forums saying their domain are worth $0 so they go on Estibot and get a $80, $150 or $500 appraisal and this justifies in their mind why they registered it and they would rather believe that than the truth, so they hang onto that value in their mind. This happens all the time on namepros, but sometimes its better to take the truth onboard and cut your losses early.

Just a thought :xf.wink:

BradBrad...Redundant?....duh!!! I was totally aware of that when I spent a whopping 6.88 to register these names a few hours ago. Speaking of rendundancy...did you happen to notice how much live.live sold for on Namebio? I'd recommend you check it out...and report back. And didn't I tell you how I feel about appraisals in this industry? Are you paying attention?

Thanks for the appraisal attempt and thanks for the exposure.

Live.Live is valuable for another reason. Just like com.com org.org net.net Loans.Loans would be valuable. But Auto+Car+Word is worthless.

Recons...I took that chance when I bought it. I'm keenly aware you can't win 'em all, but as an entrepreneur, I take on risk like this every day of my life:xf.wink: Curious though, you said that live.live, com.com, org.org etc. are valuable for "another reason"? What would that reason be? How do the owners of those domains make money? Try going to there sites and you tell me? Thanks

Collector value... For each extension there is only 1 possible name where left and right are identical... Repetition value. Like ParisParis.com

Live.Live would be very memorable. Did I mention, it would be unique?

Seriously...if I were to waste my money on the likes of live.live, com.com, org.org etc, and told my peers I bought them because they're unique and memorable I'd be laughed out of the room. Only people in this industry believe they have value...no one else does.I doubt they generate any revenue for their owners.

Good Luck with Mortgage.Loans...you may have seen where I just picked up Refund.loans along with TaxRefund.loans both for reg. fee of 6.88. I'm having lunch with a Mortgage Broker today, and I actually do some consulting work for the largest lender in the US....yes, the largest. I don't consult in the Mortgage area, but I do plan to explore all options available:xf.wink:

@Bulloney

I think when you come on line and ask for other people's opinions you take the good with the bad. One of the things I really disliked when I use to ask for appraisals, frequently like you are doing, was posters might say reg fee or grace delete. I had a ton of those responses. I would say, great this is very helpful . . . No it wasnt helpful at all because it was a bunch of negative people saying reg fee. Then a few posters starting articulating why they thought reg fee. That on the other hand was very helpful.

It looks like most of the posyters in this thread are stating why they think your names are worth whatever it is they have said. I would encourage you, state your rationale and reasoning for your opnion and read the contrary opnions. Absorb it. Take it in. Allow it to make you better, a better domainer.

It is very easy to jump in and hand register a ton of names. Let me encourage you to spend a few hundred or a few thousand on some names. You will undoubtedly get older and better names. You have some passion, so that is a great thing. Maybe you will be a good salesmen, and think of the money you could make with really good names.

Very good advice Want2Learn. As for my hand registering of names....I'm blessed to be a pretty creative guy who just so happens to have a ton of practical business experience in various industries....thus the sort of names like Refund.loans and TaxRefund.loans for the financial industry and others like RefiConsults.com and RefiGuy. I use to be in the medical billing business, and got to know a lot about the financial and medical practice area of the healthcare industry, thus I own about 50 domains, both .coms and nTLD's that are pretty good fits for that industry as well. I hope you understand that a guy's gotta do what he's best at, and I'd match my talent to come up with appropriate names for the industries I'm familiar with against anyone I've met here on NamePro's. Again, I appreciate your advice....especially regarding appraisals. Thanks.

There are some very good people here! I also am pretty creative as well. I am a teacher. I teach special education at a high school in the inner city. I also am one of the weird ones that can teach math, english, or social studies . . . I tested for all those subjects. Im mentioning it to say, I have a wide variety of interests and perhaps talents!

I truly believe it is a good thing to be creative. But trust me, dont get too cute or you will end up with some names that are great words that maybe dont make a great domain! I happen to think xxifa dot com is clearly 21st century financial advisors (or some strong a word), but I havent had anyone take it off my hands. cash4smartphones and lovesmiled (com) are to date my best 2 hand regs in terms of sales (i think)

Utilize your knowledge of industries to build your portfolio! Lean a little on the community for domaining advice and suggestions!

Keyword based domains are on their way out. When was the last time your saw a company in the real word named Home Loans as their business name? Brand names are the future of domaining.

This would support his hand regging of this domain as it doesnt fit the typical mold, though they are keywords . . . right?

I think the real challenge will be to flip the names before renewals come. Im sweating less than $9 renewals!! I cant imagine $70 renewals.

I've been around long enough to tell you Brand Names in the financial world come and go, yet traditional names last forever. Just take a look at the 15 largest banks in the US....they've had the same names, like forever. A refund is a refund is a refund just as a tax refund will ALWAYS be a tax refund. As far as the $70 renewals are concerned, is there some sort of law that says I must pay that renewal fee? If there is, and I don't know about it, I think I need to get the FBI to investigate this industry. I'm getting the feeling there's more white collar and offshore crime surrounding this industry than I first thought. btw, did I ever tell you I owned a company for 20 years named InQuisitor Investigations, and I was at one time a licensed private investigator doing work for the likes of Chemical Bank and Bank of America?

Want2learn...somehow I have the feeling you want to take back your 10K plus appraisal for Refund.loans? I know you qualified it with the "right buyer", but it sounds to me like you may have made a mistake. Is that the case? Inquiring minds would like to know:xf.wink:

First before I begin....

I always enjoy these topics because even though the views are so far apart when you read the entire topic you inevitably learn something and take something home from both sides.

Now, I've been doing this for so long that I look at most argument as redundant. I had my opinions when I first started and I was often criticized. Some of those critiques were spot on and I lost a lot of money. Some of them were sooooo wrong, I made a fortune on one domain where people said drop it.

So all in all the only thing that matters is the balance sheet come renewal time.

For @Bulloney the proof will be in the pudding. If he can buy 1000 plus domains in the first year and cover his renewal fees, hats off to him. Then again you also have to factor in time spent and hopefully you draw a little salary, but that part is no different from a lot of new businesses where owners don't draw a salary for the first few years.

I for one will be very interested to see the results after the first year, these topics will take on a whole new feel when the actual results are in. Who on namePros would not like to see what happens when someone registers 500 .newtld domains. I always vote for the underdog and hope he does it. Unfortunately that is rare but waiting for the outcome has me :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

This could not be further from the truth. There's no black and white answer when it comes to whether or not keyword domains have value. They do, in the right situation. So do brandable names.

When done properly, you can build a successful business on either one. While brandable names are unique, memorable, and often shorter, keyword names carry a lot of brand authority and enjoy a slight advantage in search engine rankings.

At the end of the day, a website is only as good as its content, design, and SEO, but keyword domains are absolutely still in demand (just not the ridiculously long ones that used to auto-rank you on page 1 of Google for the exact search term).

Great article here: http://therankmachine.com/exact-match-domain-seo/

Rich, I just want to add some context to this topic, since it comes up a lot in your threads:

Many domainers who purchase names do so as a long-term investment. That is, they'll only pull the trigger if they are willing to renew the name for several years. This is why the notion of renewing all your names keeps popping up.

There are also successful domaining models built on registering a huge chunk of names with the plan to sell as many as possible in one year and then letting them all drop before renewal time. The registrations of these names usually take place at rock bottom prices. So those who think you're looking for quick flips are giving you a hard time about selling enough ngTLDs to make your money back in a year.

Your strategy seems to fall somewhere in the middle, so I guess in some ways all the feedback you're getting conflicts with your actual plans. It looks to me as though you're investing and testing all at once (and with a lot more enthusiasm than I'd ever be comfortable with!). :)

Like any business venture, I presume you're willing to suffer a loss for a year or two in order to further a long-term goal. I have no idea if it's going to work out, but I applaud the effort, and like @MapleDots, I'm eager to follow the results.

Thanks Joe...I just mentioned only a week ago that I have a commitment from someone who has agreed to invest $5,000 in one of my .com names, and it's mostly because of the development plan I have for the name. And like most everyone else here, I have a lot of other things on my plate. I have a specialty tax business I run from home that I've owned since 1987, and I've been very active in my Kiwanis Organization that I've been a member of for 40 years. If I get the $5,000 investment, I will have almost covered my outlay YTD. Of course it doesn't cover my time spent doing this, but I've enjoyed every minute of it. One of the other members here is helping me to at least get my names listed on several of the sites like Afternic and Sedo etc. I hope to have this accomplished by no later than the end of March. I've also met with two young men who I've know for years who are pretty well connected in my area in both the social media area and the real estate area's. They're both researching the industry and I hope to attract both of them to work with me for a percentage of my business...say 12% each. Also, a very close friend of mine who recently retired as a local tv personality has agreed to help me produce a short educational video for youtube, and my Efty site. Joe, everyone I talk to is clueless when it comes to this industry, but I plan to change all that. I wish I could do it overnight, but I plan to do it right. Joe, you're obviously a lot smarter than me in areas where I've had little experience, however I'm a quick study. As such, I'm sure I have a lot more experience than you than other areas. We'd make a pretty good team similar to my partner in the medical billing business where he handled all the technical stuff and I handled all the easy stuff...like entertaining clients:xf.wink: Thanks for chiming in Joe, and I hope to meet you someday.
