I've just watched part of that video and just turned it off, because i couldn't work out what kind of meeting i was watching

Lots of screaming and there's a guy there proudly displaying a nazi tattoo on his chest.

Most people on NamePros have been waiting to hear from Rob for days, a site where most Epik customers hang out, a site which Rob himself spends quite a bit of time on, a site that voted Epik registrar of the year, something Rob was proud of, yet he hasn't showed his face, the first video i see of Rob talking about what as happened, these are the guys who have the exclusive interview and are the first people he talks to about it.

Rob is way off track with all the religious and "left vs right" BS. His association with this type of nutty element is a disgrace. Certainly, that doesn't excuse the hack, but seriously, I have a really hard time dealing with the philosophical elements of his schtick. There are plenty of "smart" people. Rob's intelligence is not above average. The rest of the noise about left and right is just that...bs noise. Totally unprofessional and Epik is probably just in it for the money.

As for the protocol, I think them not taking the time to communicate in a reasonable and expected manner is what is gonna be their downfall. Not the hack itself.

I think (I think) that most of the $ data was auto-modified before tor . By who, I don't know. Anyway, they're interested in specific whois - reg. names + data related to the x-movement. Some of the DN whales data is jumbled. imo

I agree; much of the data seems to have been tampered with. I'm rather concerned that there's going to be a second drop once Epik publishes a response, or that additional data will be sold behind-the-scenes without researchers being able to access and analyze it in a timely manner.

Edit: I would advise anyone with payment info on file to either cancel of lock the associated CCs. If you need domains to be renewed, I'd definitely consider to transfer them instead untill further notice of the depths of this breach.

Some credit cards offer a virtual / one time credit card number that ties to your account.

This is what I have done with online services in the past (including Epik). In my case, it's not one-time use (although it could be, depending on how one uses it). I'm able to set the date of expiration and even the amount on the virtual card(s). I can delete it at any time and/or make new ones.

I have removed the stored virtual card from the account for the time being, but might set up another one in the future, if necessary.
