I have had an enom a/c for a couple of years, but never used it as there were always cheaper & more user friendly registrars around.

Now however my focus has changed & I am trading a lot more than ever before.

Today eNom mailed me & suggested that I might be better off with a resellers account. When I looked into this before it looked like a lot of hassle - putting money in upfront & paying in points etc - & the club drop wasn't a patch on Snapnames. Now things have moved on.

So my question is... What are the pros and cons of a resellers account & what are your experiences with them. Do you think it would benefit me as I dont intend to resell as such?

FYI I currently pay $8.45 to reg .coms at enom

Well, if you want to pay less than $8.45, then I would suggest a lower-prices reseller account.

How many domains do you register per year? 10? 100? 1000? If over 10, then a reseller account seems like the best option for you, plus you have access to Club Drop.

Oh, I must have missed that announcement. Anyway, I still recommend Enom reseller accounts if you register over 10 domains a year.

Your not the only one to have missed it. Despite winning several names at club drop with my ordinary account, even the eNom help staff told me it was only open to resellers. I had to refer them to the announcement on their own homepage!

I don't intened to purchase lots of names on spec, more likely a few in the drop every month. As such saving a $ or two on reg fees isn't a major issue on a $xxxx domain.

What I was more interested to know was, other than price, are there any benefits, or drawbacks, to being a reseller if I am only interested in purchasing domains for my own use?

8.45 is not a big sum

If your only using it for personal names, no sense in spending the money for a resale account.

One of the benifits of having it on my end is if I sell a name for 5 or 600, and then set a new account for the owner, more times than not, they go in and renew the name for 3,5, and in a couple cases, 10 years.

Since enom's interface is $29.95 or what ever per year, and I pay 7 bucks, I make 20 some od dollars in commissions. Which of course is added to the final profit of that certain domain sale. If your just buying for personal use and don't plan to give up any of your names to potential buyers, personally, I wouldn't waste the time, money or effort of upgrading.

2 cents + 2 cents = 4, anyone got a penny so I can have a nickel?
