Hi, i just need someone to complain to.

i run the proxy site http://www.browseatwork.com regged through namecheap (enom reseller) I got an email from enom saying that my site is a suspected phishing site, ( they pointed me to a proxified url of ebay.com) so i blocked access to ebay through the proxy. and i emailed them saying okay the content is removed.

but then the next day they put a registrar hold on the domain ( the dns no longer resolves)
i've been trying to email, phone both enom and namecheap but no one is doing anything there to help me.

I called enom after 20 mins of holding they say the abuse department only works through email. it was difficult even to get on their hold que.

i've sent 3 emails to [email protected] that have not been replied to ( 3 days now )

i started a ticket with the tech support there. and it hasn't been replied to in 2 days. i've been updating it every 6 hours with comments like "help this is urgent". but no one is replying. the only reply i got in the ticket is that they will forward it to thier abuse dept.

In the mean time my site is down thanks to them.

My site was mistakenly accused of bieng a phishing site. i complied and removed the content immediately. but they put their "Registrar Hold" on the domain regardless and they are not replying to my inquires.

so fellow domainers stay away from enom.

Any cache available of exactly what they objected to?

The advice to "stay away from enom" is likely not to be heeded considering they have one of the best track records with domainers, and aren't the "every-man's" registrar that GoDaddy has become. However, knowing the exact circumstances could be useful.

update: i called them again, this time they said to email [email protected] not [email protected]

the content was the sign in page of ebay proxified.
https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...&ruproduct=&sid=&favoritenav=&migrateVisitor=

the problem i have is that they are judge, jury and executioner.
1. i got a warning from [email protected].
2. i disallowed access to ebay.com within an hour and replied to them.
3. next day mid day they put their registrar hold.

that was 2 days ago and i'm still trying to find the right person to talk to.

And why do you blame them because you run a site that can be used for abuse?

If you don't agree with their stance, then transfer your domains once you get
access and control to that one. Just be warned, though, that more and more
registrars will be more "proactive" against things like these.

Godaddy will do the same.

my problem is that they asked me to remove the content, and i did.
yet they still put their registrar hold. and now no one is answering as if they are all asleep over there.

update: 36 hours later. they removed the hold on the domain, i guess one of my messages got through or something. but i still haven't gotten any replies from them.

The business world is strange. Bigger businesses are even harder to get a hold of, because thet have some many people working, and its hard to get the same person twice. I was on the phone with Nextel today and I got some woman who didn't know what the hell she was talking about, so I took down her name and ID # and called back, got exactly what I wanted and reported her. Its not that easy in most cases.

Unfortunately

Running a proxy is risky business. By having a domain at enom, you agreed to the following, which is probably why you are having difficulty. I don't think this is much different than just about any other reputable registrar.

SERVICE(S) PROVIDED AT WILL AND TERMINATION OF SERVICE(S): We and your Primary Service Provider may reject your domain name registration application or elect to discontinue providing Service(s) to you for any reason within 30 days of a Service initiation or a Service renewal. Outside of this period, we and your Primary Service Provider may terminate or suspend the Service(s) at any time for cause, which, without limitation, includes registration of prohibited domain name(s), abuse of the Services, payment irregularities, serious allegations of illegal conduct, or if your use of the Services involves us in a violation of any Internet Service Provider's ("ISP's") acceptable use policies, including the transmission of unsolicited bulk email. You agree that if we terminate or suspend the Services provided to you under this Agreement, that we may then, at our option, make either ourselves or a third party the beneficiary of Services which are substantially similar to those which were previously providing to you and that any reference in this Agreement to termination or suspension of the Services to you includes this option. If we have grounds to terminate or suspend Service(s) with respect to one domain name or in relation to other Service(s) provided through your account, we may terminate or suspend all Service(s) provided through your account, including Service(s) to other domain names. No fee refund will be made when there is a suspension or termination of Service(s) for cause. At any time and for any reason, we may terminate the Services 30 days after we send notice of termination via mail or email, at our option, to the WHOIS contact information provided in association with your domain name registration. Following notice of termination other than for cause, you must transfer your domain name or risk that we may delete your domain name or suspend or modify Services to it. If we terminate Services for a reason other than cause, we will attempt to refund your fees. You further acknowledge and agree that your registration of a domain name is subject to suspension, cancellation or transfer by any ICANN procedure, by any registrar or registry administrator procedures approved by an ICANN-adopted policy, to correct mistakes by us, another registrar or the registry administrator in administering the domain name or for the resolution of disputes concerning the domain name.
