I am getting started in contacting end users for a domain related to the buying and selling of video game characters and accounts.

I have found plenty of websites that would be interested, the only problem I can see is that there isn't really a "webmaster" email, they are all support or customer service email address where overseas workers who could probably give two shakes about the company itself and developing it.

so my question is, would this be the best way to attempt to contact these companies? how else could I go about it?

thank you!

checking whois on sites now:

some of the emails i am finding do not look real.
registrant in china (expected for type of business i am looking to sell to)
emails are hotmail, LLNL (at) hotmail.com ... (they look fake)

do many people reg names at emails they do not regularly check?

insight/ideas would be appreciated

My understanding is that fake whois data can leave you vulnerable to losing your domain. I think it's in the owners best interest to use a valid address.

yeah those are pretty standard as a lot of businesses use freemail for whatever reason.

maybe they're not hip to the whole internet thing and want to just promote their business online etc...

I say send it out anyway and if you don't get the reply you're looking for just move on.

update:

so, in trying to sell this domain so far all the "companies" I have done whois data on has shown up with unknown EVERYTHING, not even a name. the only fields not marked unknown is the DNS, which are mostly on names such as dns23,hichina,com

I have sent off emails to the support emails, no answers. sent over 40 emails. I dont think its the lack of interest, I think it is that the people on the support end could care less about the company they are servicing.

now my qeustion turns to, has anyone found websites that do well in selling "gaming" domains, or gaming business domains?

thanks.

Try using the DT History tool or Jigsaw to locate the correct decision maker. More info here:
