The U.K. Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which oversees the banking and finance industry, released its guidance on cryptocurrencies published its final guidance in PS19/22 on 31 July 2019.

The FCA has included a new category of regulated tokens that constitute e-money, “e-money tokens”. rather than including e-money tokens within the utility tokens category. This provides a clearer distinction between regulated security tokens and e-money tokens on the one hand, and unregulated tokens (utility tokens and exchange tokens that do not fall within the above categories) on the other.

Lots of eMoney domains to be had out there.

Happy hunting Domainers

Thanks,

We are a whisker away from regulatory clarity.

When the FCA clarifies exactly which tokens fall into the regulated category ‘eMoney Tokens’ then I’ll know for sure. But contenders so far are Facebooks Libra and Central Bank Digital Currencies like China’s Digital Yuan.

It could be a serious category killer.

A piece of advice here :)
If you like it, just renew 5 years ahead and move on to diversify your portfolio with other niches
This advice is based on sweat and blood 😂

I took a punt after reading the IMF's classification's in their paper.

iMoneyTok/ens.....com
iMoneyCo/ins......com

The term "iMoney" is used to describe blockchain investment tokens backed by assets, such as digital securities.

i-money.org

Grabbed it today on the drop, thought it was worth a punt. Still listed by previous owner on DAN for $699, think it could go for more than that in the future.....

Aren't we all.

In that case, I believe saying I've got an offer and not even sharing the offer details is useless.

Yeah, you’re probably right. You’ll have to excuse my enthusiasm. It’s taken me 3 years and a lot of hard work to secure a decent domain name. Just a bit excited about this one. 😊

I sold digitaldollars.com about 4 years ago for cheap. It pains me every time I think about it!

Thanks for these informations. There are circulating so many news, reports and speculations about new crypto currencies, blockchains, tokens that some of us must have spent a fortune on it.

If your eMoneyTokens are becoming a category killer then you are the Category Killer Godfather for sure.

I felt inspired and found eMTs.uk available. I am curious if the Brits will chase me off their island after Brexit being a non-UK registrant.

The paper from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) suggests that cash and bank deposits could be left behind as digital money & fiat-pegged crypto see greater adoption.

Titled “The Rise of Digital Money” looks at how tech firms are competing with banks.

The paper addresses types of new payment, including “imoney”: an “equivalent to emoney, except it offers variable value redemptions into currency; it is thus an equity-like instrument.”

One example of imoney is Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency project

UK Crypto Regulation is Changing, Recognition Looming at Long Last

https://cointelegraph.com/news/uk-crypto-regulation-is-changing-recognition-looming-at-long-last

CEO and founder of the U.K.-based CEX.io exchange, Oleksandr Lutskevych, explained to Cointelegraph that industry players were involved in formulating the FCA's latest advice, saying:

"The current guidance implements the experience and knowledge gathered by crypto businesses from the international market over the last few years and represents the position of the major cryptocurrency businesses in the UK. It lays well on top of the existing financial regulations."

Encouragingly, Lutskevych also stated that the FCA was open to suggestions from the industry itself, and that it is listening to figures within it and trying to act on their advice. According to Lutskevych:

“When CEX.IO was consulting the FCA on possible ways to classify digital tokens, our experts proposed putting crypto assets meeting the definition of e-money into a separate category called ‘e-money tokens’ and placing them in the regulatory perimeter. We highlighted this in our submissions to the FCA and in consultations on crypto assets. We are delighted that the latest version of the guidance reflects our recommendation in full.”

Lutskevych also argues that some areas of the cryptocurrency industry are being neglected by recent advances, particularly those areas that relate to token sales and ICOs:

"While security and e-money tokens and the operators that deal with them can now play according to known rules provided by the MiFID (Market and Financial Instruments Directive) and EMD (e-money directive), there are components of the industry for which regulation must be rethought from the ground up. For example, we think it would be bad practice to apply crowdfunding regulations to ICOs."

What was the offer if you don't mind sharing?

No where near what it could potentially be worth.

Tempting offer, but the domain needs to mature for 12 months before I’ll seriously consider selling. If what I’m reading in the news is right, then I don’t want to even guess what it could be worth.

Crypto Regulation UK .jpg

Crypto Regulation: The UK’s Approach

The Financial Conduct Authority, the UK’s financial sector regulator, deems e-money tokens (stablecoins) and security tokens (shares, bonds) as regulated tokens within its regulatory remit. The FCA does not currently, however, regulate payment tokens (bitcoin) or utility tokens (filecoin).
