I have a few domains for sale but particulary one on ebay and was contacted by an individual asking if I would be interested in selling privately. However he went onto add that to purchase the domain he would have to see a valuation certificate. I have read about valuation scams whereby the buyer provides an affliate link to an outside source, and was also under the impression that a domain was only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and so an extrenal manual valuation should not be necessary for a sale. However this particular person has not provided any such affliate link and has only suggested that as a company they will not purchase any domain without such a valuation but is still interested in my domain.

Can someone enlighten me as to the scam potential here, bearing in mind no affliate link, and if it isnt a scam why keep asking for a valuation when I have said that I am not interested in providing one?

Odds are high that your being scamed by someone smart enough to delay refering the "valuation company" to make it more believeable. They know that the name is listed on ebay means your a motivated seller, which is alot better for them than "cold calling" a domain. The above in bold means appraisal scam in my book. Tell them there welcome to buy their own apprasial and you will see them disapear lol

If they wanted to buy for $9000 then just tell them that you will let it go for that price less the appraisal fee that comes out of their pocket :p
