domain einfach.com - need help valuing this. Any German speaking domainers around?

I'd appreciate some help valuing einfach.com. I picked it up at auction a couple of years ago but it's been registered since 1998. Not sure why I decided to bid on it but I think I just had a gut feeling that it might be a good buy. However, I've got a few problems with this one:

1. I don't speak German but from the simple translation I did online I gather it means simple/easy - is this correct?
2. I have no idea whether German words sell well in the .com extension.
3. I don't know whether there any commercial value here apart from it being a German dictionary word .com. Are there any companies around that this domain might appeal to?

Thanks for your help!

Simon

einfach

Hi,
Yea "einfach" means easy or simple, and in the right context can mean "one-way" as in an "einfach" ticket.
einfach.de is owned but it not forwared to their site.

http://einfach.net/ is taken but also not being used, not even parked.

Your going to have a hard time finding a company that needs the name. But if for some reason "einfach" becomes a stylish word in the english speaking world. Otherwise you would have to develop it into something interesting.

I didnt do the research but my guess is that there are not many exact searches for "einfach" Its kind of catchy "einfach.com" My feeling when I say it out loud is that maybe a Internet service provider could use it "simply(dot)com" sounds good.
Im not experinced enough to give you a $โ‚ฌ value..

I like this domain. "einfach" means simple, easy. It is widely used in commercials. For example, tennis "wunderkind" Boris Becker advertised AOL using this term. Eon, a German electricity comapny, calls its current offer "E wie einfach". There are lots of other examples.

Giving a price range is not easy because in Germany .de domains are much more common than .com, esp. for German words. And there hasn't been a reported sale of a similar domain yet. But domaintools.com states that einfach-umziehen.de (a far worse domain) has been sold in 2010 for $3000. I would value einfach.com somewhere between this and $10,000 max.

Thanks for the useful advice - much appreciated & rep left. You didn't make an offer on the domain as well did you? :) I just logged into my Sedo account and saw a โ‚ฌ750 offer on the domain waiting..

No, that wasn't me. B-) And I wouldn't sell it for $750, of course. (But I would *buy* it for that!)

Was probably someone else viewing this thread - or a complete coincidence! :) I wouldn't sell at that price either. I countered and they cancelled straight away so guess that they weren't really interested. If they'd have countered back I might have considered taking a risk and sending it to auction.

This is a great name. .DE is the biggest extension in Germany, but they also buy .com and .info. You might want to wait and submit it to one of the German-language auctions coming up - Moniker recently announced one (although it may only be for .DE, I'm not sure). An auction will give it more exposure and is definitely the way to go, unless an $XX,XXX offer comes in.

Am I correct in thinking that you can only push a name to auction with the seller's *initial* offer, not what they counteroffer? It seems like a complete gamble because with "Make Offer" names sometimes the opening offers are pretty low.

You also have some really nice names in your signature. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the advice - I will definitely check for German language auctions, that's a really good tip.. You're right starting a Sedo auction with a low reserve is risky although it can sometimes pay off.

I think you can push it to auction at Sedo at any point (not just the inital offer) but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Thanks again to all for taking the time to give me some advice on this - it's much appreciated! :tu:

Going to open this discussion up again. I've had conflicting advice on the value of this domain (opinions ranging from $XX to $XX,XXX) and I'm still none the wiser. I've been thinking that maybe it's time to send it to auction and find out how much it's really worth, trouble is I'm not sure where to sell it. Sedo seems the obvious choice but I'm wondering if there are any more German language domain auctions coming up in the near future - I really need to find the right target audience for this one, can anyone help me out?

Any other appraisals are also appreciated! :)

Very brandable indeed. You should be able to find an end-user for it.

Banks in Germany would like it... "simple"/"easy" transactions, etc.

Marketing companies would like it too. As would many companies dealing in consumer products/services.

I think you could easily get high $XXX (reseller) and between low $X,XXX and mid $X,XXX (end-user).

It's a nice name! I am very certain that German companies would be interested. It's very brandable and that is where it's value is coming from.

Should be an easy sale. :) Sedo is the best place to sell German domain names.

it is a nice domain and germans also buy .com domains, but I don't think it will be an easy sale, as most germans type .de not .com, so trying to brand something on .com and not owning the .de wouldn't make too much sense for a german enduser.

A very nice German word indeed. Used everyday in the German language in multiple ways. I think everyone has convered it in the previous posts.

I agree that it's probably best to let a name like this go to auction. There IS a right end-user for this name but they may be in short supply and it depends how eager you are to sell.

Should at least get low $xxxx for it.

Once again thanks for the feedback, I've had some really excellent, detailed appraisals - rep left to all that have helped.

On the subject of German keyword domain auctions, does anyone know of any coming up in the near future?
