Editing/Deleting thread titles

Hi, what is the general policy on here about removing the title of a sales thread?

I'm sure there are a lot of people on here, both buyers and sellers, that don't want to have the domain name still visible in the title after the sale.

Generally, We used to allow a title to be edited up to 30 days from the time they were created. At that point or until thread is closed / locked, the title is no longer editable & set for archiving. On the same token, content used to be allowed to be edited till a thread was closed / locked with no limit. However, We may be adding more restrictions or altering those guidelines due to a few negative effects it has on us in search engines when content disappears.

Not sure yet how we'll handle this as we move forward, but it's something that needs to be looked at. Granted, we understand there's plenty of legitimate reasons why one would want to edit a title or content, however there are just as many (if not more) negative effects or unwarranted content removals that take place we have to consider.

Thanks for understanding, hopefully we'll have something set in stone sooner than later.

I hope AT LEAST it stays that we can change content. But the title would be interesting also. I didn't even know what you wrote Eric about possibility iof changing the title.

I feel that if the domain is required in the title, we should have the ability to remove the domain from the title.

I'm not that familiar with vBulletin, but would it be possible to add an extra field to the form where users could enter the domain name, and then they would have the ability to remove just that domain name field later on and not the rest of the content?

That's a great idea.. we'll look more into that.
