Ecology/Nature domain

Is it alright to use the .com extension for ecology or nature related domains? I saw an available name with the .com extension. The .org, .info, and .net are taken. Why didn't they register the .com?

Id grab it if I were you, may have recently dropped, but there are no restrictions on .com's.
