.ec Promotion

nic.ec are running a promotion, .ec domains are US$17 until 30 October. (normally $50)

.ec is not really a popular investment, and you'll likely find anything worth taking (in the way of English keywords) is already gone. However some of you hack-lovers might be able to find something you like...

Of course, there are a few good Spanish words still available to register & develop (your best bet with this extension in my opinion)

Oh, and be aware there are transfer fees ($100-$150) when transferring .ec domains to a new owner, so don't expect quick and cheap flipping...

Interestingly- cocoa.ec, cacao.ec (Spanish for cocoa) and chocolate.ec (same in English and Spanish) are showing available (as of 11.00am BST)

If I didn't have such a large 'to develop' queue I'd have probably gone for these three.

Well, was thinking of putting up a little ask site anyway. I hear they generate a few dollars a month with any extension.

Think I might hold anyways come renewal, seems like a good one. I wonder if I could have gotten multiple years for $17.....

Yes the promotion applies if you buy multiple years (I have Business.pro.ec until 2010)

I contacted them about transfering a domain and she said nothing about costing $150....She attatched 2 forms which I glanced over and also saw nothing stating $150 transfer fee. This is the email I received back:

Dear Sir,

Thanks for the information. In order to proceed with the change of the
administrative contact´s information, you must send us the registration and
agreement form (attached) filled and both signed by the registrant.

Please, indicate us the domain name in order to provide you specific
instructions.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

So is the $150 to transfer from one place to another? Sounds like it is free to transfer from one account to another
