Ebay's new search. Gave me a headache...

I tried to find one of my ebay listings today by searching the term "LLLL.com".

To my dis-satisfaction I found that my listing did not appear, even though I have the term "LLLL.com" in my title.

Then I searched the term "domain name", still nothing, even though "domain name" is in my title.

I got onto the live chat and started trying to solve the problem with an ebay rep. She was clueless until I told her that when I do search those terms/keywords, Ebay automatically puts me into a particular, preset category, w/o my consent.

I want to search ALL CATEGORIES for LLLL.com but it makes me search the following category:
Home > Buy > Internet & Computer Services

Here is a screenshot I took of the LLLL.com results:

Finally after about an hour of Live Ebay Rep help she decided to tell me that the search on Ebay is new and I have to scroll to the bottom of the results page and choose to "opt out" of the new ebay search experience.

So, if you don't have your domain name listed in that particular category, don't expect it to appear in the listings for the keywords in your title unless the person doing the searching chooses to "opt out" of ebay new search experience.

And yes, I got ebay to give me a credit for my listing not appearing where it should...

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

That is ebay - as soon as you get set up where you can sell something then they change the system. I honestly think they have a department of techies whose job is to come up with "improvements" regardless of need. They have to justify their salaries, so they are always changing stuff.

The new search also figures in recent feedback - poor feedback goes to the back of the line, and the best gets preference. It is not stated, but it appears that this will work strongly against small sellers, who have little feedback of any kind.

Yep, I totally agree.

I told their tech department that they should make it so that Ebay users have to "opt in" to the new features, rather than "opt out"..

Wow,
Thx 4 the head's up!
That could lead to absolutely no sales!
I believe most, would prob. type in..Domain names
So, by the time all seller's head over to that category,
"Home > Buy > Internet & Computer Services"
They will change it to "opt in"
and..????
Too many changes.

I despise the feedback system change!
Like accentnepal said, they are catering to the new seller's.
Who will now be in front of the seasoned vet's!
Of course they are starting with 100% Feedback.
What a pain in the A$$!
Thx 4 the info!
You should start an E-Bay thread titled...
E-Bay's new hourly policy changes!
LOL
