eBay selling Question: SPAM or what? Need help!

Hi,

I am listing one of my Domain for eBay Auction, this auction is running and I received 3 messages in past 2 days. My problem is related to the message I received:

The 3 messages come from 3 eBay users, let me say they are user A, B, and C. All of them have good positive feedback (170 for User A, 3 for User B, and 144 for user C).

User A and User B send me the message at almost the same time, and the Message is:
Hello,
My name is Tybalt Schrader.

I just saw this item of yours and I remember seeing the same item two days ago, take a look:

http://3392319564/ebay/?ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200085847636

Though the user file shows that A is from UK and B is from India, but the message I got is actually the same. (Actually same words, same name "Tybalt Schrader". I got these 2 messages yesterday and I send back to them say that "Thanks for your inquiry but I am not sure what are you talking about since the Url your provided is not work".

Minutes ago I got the message from User C again. This time the message is:
Hello, My name is Lise Herndon. I just saw this item of yours and I remember seeing the same item two days ago, take a look: http://213.194.149.20/~casellas/ima...190072360175=MyeBayMyMessages&ssPageName.html

Then I realized that I might be SPAMed. I am very new for eBay auctions and need your help. Could you share your views on this: Are those messages are SPAM? Did you got same like this? If it SPAM, why those guys have such good feedback? (And all 3 IDs registered for a long time already. A since 2002, B since 2004, C since 2000)

And should I report this to eBay? If need, how to report this to eBay?

Thank a lot!!

This looks like normal spam to try and entice you to enter your details (i hope you did not). I presume they looked like normal eBay emails. The details in the emails are faked and eBay did not send these mails (other users cannot get your email address until an initial email has been responded too).

And yes you should report these to eBay as they can take steps to shut down the phishing sites.

Highlight over the URL in the email....if it points to a domain or IP other than ebay then its likely to be an attempt to get you to give them you're username and password. To be on the safe side, change your password.

Thanks for filth and rmwebs !

Infact those guys didn't send me an e-mail. They send this meassage to me through eBay Messege System "As a potential buyer to ask questions on my items".

And the 1st link is really an eBay link (But doesn't work). 2nd link is not eBay's so I don't click it.

I am tring to report it to eBay now (Still need to find through which report system). I am quite angry on that SCAMMER have such a high feedback reviews in eBay system :(

infoicq the first link is not an ebay link at all. If you entered your details into either of those sites change your password ASAP.

More than likely the reason they have such high feedback reviews is because those are not their actual accounts. Meaning they probably scammed those people into submitting their username/password and then took over their accounts... So I'm sure the feedback is probably legit, just the people who now have access to those accounts are not :)

The address to report scams to eBay is:
Spoof(at)ebay.com
BTW, For Paypal it is:
Spoof(at)paypal.com

They will send automated replies, I imagine they look for trends.

You can lift the item number out of the supposed ebay address and enter it in eBay search (type in the real ebay address in a fresh browser). Never click an address in an email unless it is to verify yourself for something you just signed up for, and even then be careful.

Turning off images in your email will help keep the spammers from knowing you opened their mail and therefore that your email address is real.

Thanks for accentnepal. I tried "Spoof(at)ebay.com" but got a feedback in few minutes to tell me that Spoof(at)ebay.com is not take responsibility for this:

The email address "[email protected]" is used only for processing reports of Websites that attempt to impersonate eBay.

But the mail I got is REALLY from eBay Message box so maybe they don't want to spend any time checking what is the fraud activity in deep.

Then I tried to eBay online "Contact Us" feature, but CAN not find a category which is 100% match this kind of complaints. Finally I send it through "General Issues" category. Doubt that anybody from eBay would really kep eyes on my complaints. Maybe the complex and unfriendly eBay support system is the reason of long term exsiting of this kind of SPAM.

I am sure that I am not the 1st one to report this kind of SCAMERs to eBay. But who knows what would eBay do for it? :(
