Hello, my friends....

I know I can always count on you to help me :loveyou:

I have had an ebay account since 2000, but have never sold anything. I sell baseball cards, but I usually use yahoo auctions for that. I've listed domains a couple of times on ebay, but no bids. I know that if you don't have feedback, people will not bid, as there are so many scammers out there. I actually included in my listing, that I could provide feedback info from other auction sites, but still no response. I started the auctions very low and with no reserve. I figured I'd be losing on how much the domains would sell for, but that it would be worth it to build up my reputation as an ebay seller.

Does anyone have any advice as to how I can reassure potential bidders that I am a serious seller even though I have 0 feedback, without sounding pushy or desperate, or like a scammer? Or maybe tell me how you all started off your domain sales on ebay...

Thanks, and good luck to all!

Wishing you good health (1st and foremost) and then lots & lots of $$$$$!

vw

i always think its best to buy things off ebay first to build your raiting up. I didnt start sellign till i had a feedback of about 50 or so.

Its hard establishing yourself on ebay. I personally wundt buy anything off ebay from people whom have a low or no feedback. Maybe thats harsh but i cant really afford to be ripped off.

So i suggest go buy a few small items which dont cost much to get some feedback then try again :)

I wouldn't have thought of this- it makes perfect sense!

Thanks so much- I am going to do this...

Additional suggestions are welcome... :hearts:

:imho: Ebay really isn't the best place to sell domains to begin with. There has never been more than a handful of "Serious" Domainers selling there and most of those are discouraged by now. Scammers ,Shill Bidders ,etc .... have Ruined one of the largest Marketplaces online.I'm not saying you can't make money on there still - Just not as easy within the Domaining,Hosting, and Websites Areas.

As far as your original question - Ebay Folks generally only respond to Positive Feedback - Find something selling well and try your luck in buying/selling in bulk - if you wish to build your feedback quick ~ :)

Good Luck ~

yeah.. look for other items you can use to build up your feedback.. you might look for "resell rights", "websites. "domain names" as there are usually some pretty cheap items in there..

Actually "resell rights" items can be pretty good buys (progs, apps, ebooks, etc)... they sell cheaply because ebay is inundated by them.

The trick when you buy these types of items is to offer them for resale on your website or another lesser-known auction site (epier, for example)...

Ebay feedback is two way. When I buy, I look not only at buyer, but seller feedback. I think you need both. I actually had a couple people pay $1-3 for items I sold and said don't send it to them, but please leave positive feedback. Basically they were buying feedback points. a better way is to buy AND sell small dollar items that people aren't too worried about losting their money on. Most people buying something for less than $5 aren't too worried about being ripped off and you can buy and sell to gain feedback. I wouldn't waste money on things I didn't want, but maybe just small things that would be nice to have or you use regularly that are priced well like inkjet cartridges, CD-R's, video tapes.

You can also offer escrow until you get feedback if the item is domains or real physical items. This may be worth the cosdt if selling items at $200 or more.

Exactly. Buy and sell inexpensive, tangible goods. Problem w/ baseball cards, books, and other used collectables is that price is very dependent upon condition, and w/o a track record the trust won't be there. I personally have not done well w/ domain names there and w/ all of the scamming and B/S that this category has at eBay, it iseems like alot of hassle for poco dinero.

How to build a good eBay rep (without buying):

Sell very cheap items (less than 10$) at the beginning, saying that you'll ship the item BEFORE receiving the payment from the buyer (you can say that it only works if the buyer has 50+ positive FB).

Then sell low XX$ items .... 5 to 10 times

Then mid XX$

Then low XXX$

etc etc etc ...

Grégoire.

One more tip...If you do sell domains on ebay which is hard to do and make money, then I have found a little more success selling in non-domain categories. For example, selling baseball related domains in the sports or baseball card categories. you are more likely to find retail end users their instead of the mainly domain wholesalers in the domain categories.

Great idea, Adoptable. Now why didn't I think of that. I put hubcap.biz up for auction in "hubcaps" category. An interesting approach.
