eBay pulled my auction for OnlinePoker.cc
Interesting because I have sold similar names on eBay before- within the last 6 mos, as I recall.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

And I was under the impression you could sell anything on e-bay.

Is this a new rule? Or just a newly enforced rule?

I've sold a few poker names on ebay in the past without any issues.

Hmn. :td:

It is just that they happen to find it----alot of things slip by them.
I use to sell a lock-out tool kit on there and was making good money---sold several of them until I got the very similiar email---said it was against policy---that someone could use it to break into a car----I sent them an email back that someone could use a brick to break into a car but you have not stopped bricks from being sold :)
And I did a search rite after that and there were other lockout kits still listed for sale on ebay----they just happen to catch mine.

thats odd as i just sold poker.bs on ebay for $3600 not more than two weeks ago. But maybee they did not flag mind for the greed of the high value fees and the high paypal fees they would gain off the auction, i believe together it ran me nearly $300 for ebay fees and paypal fees.

Nevermind that half of ebay's DVD listings tend to be bootlegged copies... This just reinforces my increasing disgruntled attitude towards ebay's haphazard policies and arbitrary enforcement.

Yeah it's a damn lottery selling on ebay these days.

My girlfriend had her account shut down because I borrowed another sellers picture of "My little pony" to use in one of her listings.

I couldn't fookin believe it. :td:

I once tried to sell a history book on Hitler, and they temporarily suspended me and warned me not to ever sell books relating to Hitler again.

I think the Ebay staff is filled with Jews. You have to be able to distinguish history from discrimanation - something they are having problems doing.

The problem is is that they are too big with crap competition (just like PayPal which owns ebay.)

They have the markets cornered.

I had a similiar experience, but mine was selling historic vintage videos about the pornography industry. I explicitly stated there was NO nudity in the videos and they were historic. Nonetheless, the morons at ebay yanked the auction repeatedly because they thought it was porno. Ironically, most of the videos consisted of ANTI-pornography segments. Obviously, the chaps at ebay weren't history majors.

I thought ebay owned paypal?

It drives me crazy that they have yet to be challenged by 'good' competition.

"Unite fellow np'ers... lets give 'em a run for their money!"

I still think that NamePros should set up a better online marketplace than we currently have. If we were to set up an online auctionhouse for domains, the popularity of NP may increase.

Just cuz the name is online poker doesn't mean there is gambling involved. I give ebay the thumbs DOWN on this :td: .

Perhaps relist it with just a simple informational site on poker.

It's not like you were selling a gambling site...I dunno.

I agree fonzie... and RJ is very good at making things happen, if only we could convince him.

Yeah I gave that suggestion a while back as well. We should have an actual auction, such as TDNAM, with a bidding system.

The chat is no good.

Try to change the whois and ask someone from UK to list it. I think its because of US citizens are not allowed or participate in any gaming related business.

I'm quite perplexed as to why we can't advertise gambling related sites and names online in the US but as I drive down the interstate I see billboards telling me how much fun it is to dive 2-4 hours away and gamble. I guess we can all thank those politicians we put into office and thank them for our freedoms or lack thereof due to their own beliefs.

Another thing that has always confused me is the ones who are against "gambling" are the same ones who fill up the bingo houses. Escpecially those "charity" bingo events. Attach the word charity to it and it's all in the name of god. If you don't it's a sin.

What's even more interesting is that you see advertisements on TV for gambling related websites. Seems interesting gambling-related advertisements can be on TV but NOT on the same medium (e.g. the internet) that the business exists.

No what you see is them advertising "schools." This is them getting around the law. In the name of higher education..lmao It's funny that this has come up as I'm piecing together a gambling related site and this was one of my concerns. I guess I'll be going offshore with the venture as will the money made from it.
