**"Although "doomsday" is frequently linked with the Mayan calendar, this is just coincidental. December 12, 2012 is a significant day in astronomy because of a number of important events that will impact our Sun. It would be a "doomsday" even if we never knew about the Mayan calendar. Yet, the more we understand this ancient civilization and appreciate their knowledge of astronomy, we must assume they knew this date to be auspicious. So let's just talk about astronomy here. There's a lot of information. I'll try to make it easy to understand......"***

It makes sobering reading. Those cave petroglyphs are eerily accurate to the 'z-pinch artifacts'. Part1 of the article is good too. Those Mayans were pretty smart.

(Word of warning: the 'Confidential Message' link at the top of the page is about 53 pages and it's about HAARP in the main. You might wanna leave that one till later)

Anyone can make a prediction about the date of the end of the world, because obviously it will come one day. However, I saw nothing in their cliff pictographs about advising people to buy .coms in 1994.

I think earth would survive for another 100 years or more.. No one can predict the future and that is the truth!

I wonder if the Mayans predicted they would be getting their Asses whooped by the Spanish?

Quote of the week, IMO, lol. One of those, can't see the forests for the trees comments, hehe.

Why do people say the Mayans predicted the end of the world? This just frustrated me because people will happily accept something completely wrong as 'truth', and tell others about it.
The Long Count reaches 13 in 2012, think of it as like a new millenium in our calendar - nothing to do with the end of the world. It's an interesting coincidence, however, that it's the winter solstice on the same day.

I think they did, I remember seeing something about Cortez on TV where they said their god/s were white men with beards, it went on to note design similarties between pyramids throughout the world and suggest that there was some pre-historic travelers who must have travelled around the world many years before.
