Wondering what people thought of the above name that I just picked up.

.LA is now the official internet address for Los Angeles, the world's first city to receive this accolade. It used to belong to Laos, but since about a month ago it is officially the domain extention for Los Angeles.

Every single extention is taken, except .md, .hn. & .jobs. Even subdomains like uk.com, uk.net, us.com & de.com is taken.

Could be a good name for a business in LA that sells DVDs.

What are your opinions on this one?

I personally think there is huge potential in LA, others will poo-poo it like they do mobi, tv, bz etc.

Yours specifically is ok, but the plural s kind of hurts it in my book. I also think that names should be geared toward extensions, but that is just me.

I will say 50 when it takes off, right now, not much more then reg fee.

Do you have any reference for that?

I own several .LA names. The registry has been spouting that "official internet address for Los Angeles" stuff for two years that I know about, but has done nothing to make it so. There was a change of promoters about a year ago so maybe there has been some movement since then, but I can find nothing on Google. But it still is really Laos and always will be (and .TV still is Tuvalu, a tiny island in the Pacific.) That is not a problem.

I think there is a chance .LA names will be very popular, but I want to see where LA city or county has "adopted" the extension. Such a move would be quite important.
