domain DVDDrive & DVDDrives (.COM)

I am looking to have 2 very solid category killer domains appraised. They have never been offered to end users (ex. Sony, IBM etc) or on the Secondary Domain Market (ex. Sedo, AfternicDLS, Domain Forums):

DVDDrive (dot) com

DVDDrives (dot) com

These gems could hold a lot value, either individually or even as a set.

Excellent end user appeal - makers of DVD Drives, ex Sony / HP / NEC / etc. as well as plenty of big brand computer stores like TigerDirect.com / Newegg.com / etc.

Look forward to your opinions/appraisals.

Well, yet again fed you show the way. Very nice names, advertisers are spending a fortune on those keywords so you should find a good home for them. Makes a nice change for you to grab a .com too.

If you look for a quick flip, as you normally do, high xxx
If you wait that bit longer and perhaps send to auction, with plenty of bidders low xxxx/mid xxxx
If your very lucky you could get a mid xxxx offer off the bat.

Knowing you though you will probably go for the quick flip, although I think they could do better with an auction.

Well done Federer, those are great product related domains. Both of these gems are 11+ years old as well.

DVD Drive - 33K exact searches / $0.73 - $1.04 CPC / 57 advertisers
DVD Drives - 22K exact searches / $1.01 - $1.43 CPC / 61 advertisers

I think at auction these are Mid - High $X,XXX+. To the right end user these are in the low $XX,XXX range each. Owning both variations is a major selling point as well.

Thanks Brad for your appraisal. I think I should focus on the end user appeal of these domains and offer them to leading businesses manufacturing DVD Drives. I can also see them selling for low $XX,XXX each to the right buyer.

i wanted to write the same comment, then saw yours.

great names......i agree, but you shouldn't wait too long to sell.

now is the best time, before other technologies (bluray, etc.) replace DVDs and DVDdrives. Blurays and Bluraydrives are getting cheaper and cheaper and in few years they will completely replace dvd imo.

Yes, you're right. I should try and market these domains within the next 6-12 months. I think, however, that DVD (a very global and generic term that often encompasses HD, Bluray etc.) and DVD Drives will still be around for quite some time. Bluray has still not yet really caught on...

I'd say attempt to sell them as set within the next 4-6 months for anything between 5000-8000 for DVDDrive.com and 12000-15000 for DVDDrives.

I do believes the plural does have a little bit more value in this situation.

Maybe you'll make an additional couple of hundred bucks from ads until the big buyer shows

That is a good point - The generic term "DVD Drives" covers the main types of DVD Drives: Bluy-ray/HD DVD Drives - DVD drives, weather blu-ray or HD, are here to stay for quite some time.
Even the video games system, PS3, has a "Blu-ray DVD Drive"

Maybe the domains would fetch even better prices if sold individually - what do you think? But sold as a set, they could even more valuable to the end user as they would then practically OWN the keywords at the major search engines.

i would say a realistic reseller price for this package would be somewhere in the low xx.xxx range

might be usefull for you to know (if not already) that dvdburner.com sold for $8500 this year.
with nearly same number of google search results , monthly searches and average CPC, i would say that dvddrive.com is from same quality and price.
additionaly a high x.xxx price for dvddrives.com
15000 for the package would be an acceptable price, for the right reseller

if you find the right enduser, up to mid xx.xxx could be possible imo (also because you have the package with both names)

Have you already burnt out your end-user prospects on these?

"DVD Drive" is trending kinda bleh compared to Blu Ray Drive and your hottest end-users would probably be aware of this. Even though Blu Ray Drives are DVD Drives, if the nomenclature shifts to "Blu Ray" rather than "DVD", that's very meaningful from a domain name perspective.

Still, relative volume crushes in favor of DVD Drive and @ 5K, they seem like a very nice bargain.
