Duplicate META problem on WP

For some reason the meta desc on each individual blog post is being over-ridden by the same meta desc.

So when searching for any specific post on Google, instead of the description for that particular page showing, it shows the same meta desc over and over. It seems like it's pulling the meta from the homepage and over-riding the desc of each individual page.

So, just wondering if anyone could help me out with this. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

What do you have for the titles in the Yoast SEO plugin?

Yoast -> Titles -> Posts

Check whats there.

Oh just go to the SEO plugin, then Indexation, and scroll down to the Robots Meta Settings box.

Select both add noodp and noydir.

Then go to pingomatic.com and ping google. It should show correctly within 48 hours.

Basically whats happening is that google is using a snippet of your site from search directories rather than the meta description.

Looks like everything is blank under the Yoast settings. How should I fill these in?

No need to fill anything in, the default settings are fine. Just do what I added to my post above.

Thank you. I have to credit that to "FatHive", the person I just bought the site from.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad to hear that. Also, PlusNames, I can't thank you enough - that did the trick for us and we're starting to score some good PR now :)

One last question though, a bit OT but I guess there's no sense in creating a new thread. We're using a new featured articles plugin on our homepage now, but we're having trouble creating a space between it and the following posts. That plugin widget is running too close to the newest item below it. I think the site would look a little neater if there was some separation between the two.

We tried br and p commands but nothing is doing the trick. Any suggestions?

You need to add a margin to the featured block. Go to plugins, editor and at the top right dropdown, pick the correct plugin. On the right there should now be a list of it's files.

If there is a CSS document, edit that.

Glad I could help :) As mentioned by kidd3r, that would have to be changed in the plugins style sheet. Check your PM.
