.tv Druid/s.TV - Views from a relative newbie (Pun intended)

Well, the .TV craze is definately taking off, now my cousin wants in!!

Asked me what was worth handregging - told him not much and he came back and told me he has regged DRUID & DRUIDS.TV for two years each for a total of $40 courtesy of course of GoDaddy.........

Gone in every other ext - should make a perfect social network site for the world wide druid community......

I think it is not bad for a first timer!!!

Oh, and just to prove a point, I asked him if he would have regged them at $24.99 - and he said he would not have taken the risk of reselling within 1 year, and two years at $24.99 x 2 ($100 for those who have not had much sleep) he said no way.............

Care to appraise its worth as a package??

However, I did some research for your cousin.

+5,000 OVT search
Google adword search volume trend is a bit low, but on the rise.

I think that with the right reseller, at least mid xx to low xxx can be obtained for druid.tv.

There are tens of thousands of DRUIDS worldwide....If just one of them wants to start a community site, and these guys are very secretive!!! or sect/cult like......wouldnt DRUID.TV make the perfect name.......??

I had to explain this to my cousin and he is new!! Traffic?? I have never bought one .TV mysellf for the traffic, not one.....

If you are looking for type ins for 2007 or 2009 for that matter go with .com......TV is for the next five years at least all about BRANDING.....even the strongest generic names and geos turn into brands once you attach a .TV at the end of it....

Hence EDUCATION .TV highest type in was 82 in December 06..

The .TV game is all about recognising the brand value in a name, buying it low and selling the brand high....

I am fan of such names.
DRUID.tv is an incredible name for a natural/herbal medicine website, body and beauty care products, recipes and tips for wellness... It is obvious that this celtic name isn't by default the kind of one with 'natural' type in traffic but it is very intuitive and credible, elegant/sophisticated, brandable, so nicely developed with appropriate content it would be more than a magic potion. Congrats to your cousin.

GO Millers! and on a smaller, local business scale, I think the little me.tv sites are very salable commodites. At the very least they are great, easy vehicles to showcase the name.

it fits as a movie related website/community that presents movies like the lord of the rings etc...

Druid.tv and druids.tv........very nice. Druids was a movie, who knows someday there might be a television series. I do not know if it has been a game yet, but I could see that as a gaming title. As far as the community aspect, I would think it would work well. As a matter of fact, with the me.tv tools, I think you can make your site private, so if they wish to record comings and goins for posterity but remain semi private, they could still do that.

BTW, wiccans.tv is still available..........

None - what are the chances you would type in sexchange.com??? Unless ou are not telling us something about yourself.....

Or, to make it more personal - what are the chances of someone typing in PREDICTING.TV??? Or AROUSING.TV...Gotto be close to zero.......(I am not trying to bash you Showbiz.....just point out a few things)

For the upteenth time....any .TV name right now should never be bought for type in traffic, unless you are buying a fully developed site with existing traffic...


It is about branding and POTENTIAL traffic.....so someone who is big into druidry, could start off a social community for the druid community, password protected or otherwise.......and grow the site organically....

Do the names have the same potential as BOXING.TV? No!!! Simply because the demographics of area of interest in druidry are so much less than that of boxing...

But SHowbiz, you gotta get the type in way of thinking out your head - if its there its a bonus - ie Equity selling SIX.TV for $25,000 - was mostly because of the huge type in traffic and very highclick through conversion rates he had on that name, but that is the exception for .TV, not the expectation......

Traffic or natural type ins are years away from the general public on names like SEX.TV even!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would guestimate that at least 85% or higher of the general public still do not know or have heard of a .TV......

The hope is that in five years time that number will be reduced drastically enough, so that people will type in .TVs if they are looking for video on certain topics...but we are nowhere near there yet..............
