Drop Catching Strategy Question

Is there any way to beat Andrew Reberry's relentless drop catching other than backordering the domains on NameJet & SnapNames?

Developing your own software would only be one step in competing.

Equally if not more important is the number of Registry connections.

Andrew Reberry (NameBright) has greatly increased the number of Registry connections he uses over this past year.

One of the reasons Snapnames is usually unbeatable is they have the most Registry connections.

completely agree with you trico, put it into default users words"welcome to the unregulated domain biz" it seems to me just unfair that the "regular" guy is beaten up every time...oh wait...that's just how everything else works, thx lobbyists....lol.....mafia....anyone??

It's interesting people are still tapping the drops to the max.
I know of a few private registrars that have ceased operations long ago - the dropcatching game just produced fewer and fewer gems.

OK. So the consensus seems to be you have to invest your $69-$89 at NameJet &/or SnapNames, if you want to have some confidence in beating him. The good thing is you don't pay if you don't win. The bad thing is this might work "one off" for a single domain, but from 10+ names you start to wonder if all the domains were in AR's sights, and he still wins all the domains which are not in your sights for regfee. You cannot beat him (with his business model) without the software and the registrars (and deep pockets).

BuyDomains should be added to your list. They grab a lot of drops too.

By the way, InTrust Registrar and domain backordering service is now owned and operated by Epik (Rob Monster).

I hear that some software can help us searching good expired domain name.
and some also can help registering it.

Go to freshdrop.net . It is the best search engine to use to find good expired domain names.

Reviving an old thread. Andrew is still scooping hundreds of domains everyday .. Beating everybody else by microseconds .. Very frustrating ..

Andrew's cash flow must be horrendous. He must be burning the $$ up at a fast rate of knots. I wish him well. Even if I am a competitor (poor one). I hope he is selling enough domains to pay for his purchases. It's nice to see a relative newcomer doing well against the bigger guys. I bear him no ill-will. Even when it hurts like hell.

I just missed getting a pre-release domain I'd been watching. I got real busy around the order-by deadline, and missed it So it's now going to delete. The sad thing is it's a short two word domain which has a keyword he usually likes. Although he doesn't always pick them up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he doesn't go for it in early May.

Unfortunately it's all about registrars. Even if it is not Andrew, some of the other snakes will take it. Snapnames are extremely efficient these days grabbing everything that was on backorder auctions @ NameJet. Like this one: http://www.domainsofvalue.com - a frekin registrar made only to Snap OUR Names. :D
