I don't know what's going on but Dreamhost is having major problems with their servers and seem to lose money by the second. The thing that really sucks is that ALL of my websites are hosted by them so they don't get any hits during this time and discourage people from visiting the sites. :'( Does anybody know what is going on and when Dreamhost is going to fix this problem?

Yes, it depends when you checked it, the outages have been going off day in and day out, no prediction when they'll go off again. It doesn't matter what it says on that site, I get warnings from dreamhost and I know because my websites are down, I just want everyone that is planning on subscribing to Dreamhost, not to do it now, wait until the Network Outages stop. ;)

A good way to know when your sites are down is to subscribe to siteuptime.com and get email notifications.
Checking dreamhost.com is not the way to do it since they have many different servers that may experience outages at different times.
Iยดve been seeing some problems on one of the servers Iยดm hosted on.

That's weird. I have a site hosted on Dreamhost and it's been running smoothly (haven't checked FTP though)

Dreamhost has multople servers, it depends what server you're running on. I'm running on butler.dreamhost.com then there's yoda and some other weird names for servers.

If you use a service like siteuptime.com, it is not entirely reliable... it only records what happens at 15-30min intervals. If you pay them a monthly fee however, they can check every 5 minutes, which would be much more accurate.

I have heard many bad things in regards to DreamHost, so I haven't used them.

If you view their forum, you will see that 90% of their threads/posts are people complaining about server outages, mysql issues etc.

Not very reliable from what I have seen.

I've been more than happy with Dreamhost, it my sites hardly ever go down with them.

A great little tool for monitoring your server uptime is Servers Alive:

http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/

Does the trick for me, let's you know via email or SMS when a site goes down

I don't personally have hosting at DreamHost but a site I go on is and they have had downtime for just over 2 weeks and it is a well used site. I would suggest either to wait for them (dreamhost) to sort themselves out or look elsewhere.

I use Dreamhost and am very happy with them. Their outages usually just last a few minutes at the most, it seems.

I havent either heard good things about dreamhost and if it continues ask to move servers or find another provider.
