Just had a very bad experience with Dotster.
I tried to place an order with Sale20, entered my payment info and checked out.
At the end, I was presented with an error message saying that my payment method needed to be manually verified and to contact billing. I contacted billing and the rep (outsourced) had no idea what I was talking about. She couldn't find my order or account; have since registered the domains elsewhere!

Yeah, the first time purchase may get the security issues (they do not trust the IP from some countries), all you need is chat with them and they will active the account and sent you the username, you have to request the new password (use the Forgot password feature from their website).

After have an account you can login and purchase again, you will have not any issues for the next purchase and after.

They usually have special price $1.99/year up to 5 years. I will notify you when have,

the special offers for two years registration still works

It worked after I tried registering some domains with Paypal.
Even got 2 years on each of the domains for just $1.99/yr.
Not bad, but I wouldn't expect the support to be quick if I were to need it from Dotster.
