Ok folks …. yes i did reg a .technology domain name and i don't mind dipping my toes into the new gtld pond. I have seen a few names i had my eyes on go and a few that are 'Premium Prices" …. oh no it's .tv all over again.
~
I have read some comments about the length of this extension and i do agree it's not for everybody but it is a bit more reasonably priced so it does allow for a 'one off'
~
I dont really wish to argue about the rights and wrongs of this gtld extension as there is plenty of that in the other threads and we will all just repeat ourselves. (perhaps a thousand times) over the upcoming year
~
So if you feel like sharing a .technology reg …… please do

I can tell you that a 'premium name' is half the price of godaddy if you use dynadot or enom

It's kind of cool..... but in reality, who would actually use a single letter domain name? I make websites for a living (real ones) and I wouldn't use a single letter name simply because it doesn't say anything. It's boring. .. just saying.. :guilty:

In reality, no one own a single character domain name till now I got one. It will be a fortune down the road. The renewal will not break my piggy bank, but the marketing value is excellent.

On a separate discussion, I have onlinebuzz.com and buzz extension will come out soon. Free buzz for me ...:kickass:

why would it be worth a fortune when there are lots of other people who own single letter domains in the new gtlds as well?

as for online.buzz...unless you have a trademark you won't get this domain. it will be reserved.

If you have no idea. You have a lot to learn, keep reading past discussions.

Regarding onlinebuzz, I'm good. I can't afford to have them all. I just need a few. :hearts:

if you say so. i own a single letter in a new gtld too. big deal. so .technology only had 6 released? well others had a lot more. are they reserving them all now? i don't know but if they are, they will be released at some point when sales slow.

.tech would make a lot more sense then .technology as that is just very long & lots of people just say "tech" instead. "technology" is very long to type in addition to whatever is infront of .technology & haven't us domainers always thought the shorter the domain the better? Anyway these new extensions don't interest me at all & won't be buying any.

So you would not want a long name like technology.com , that's also a long name as well, how about realestate.com .. too long for you as well or are you still wasting your money on idn's ??? i have seen your auctions over at idnforums and not too many look like winners so not too fussed about your constant negative comments. If these don't interest you why are you posting ?

Technology.com & RealEstate.com make sense, being a .com & an exact "product" in the .com extension which makes them valuable domains. Any of these new .whatever will mostly only be a winner for the person who owns the .whatever & sells domain.whatever to other people who are willing to part with their cash.

I've also seen your auctions on that forum too & none of them that I've seen had gotten any bids at all. The names I've put for sale there have been the names I'm clearing out of my portfolio & have no use for. I see your post there has been a year ago. Looks like you've quit the IDN game & moved onto new gTLDs now.

Why am I posting? Well, this is the "Discussion Forum" so anyone is free to discuss the topics of whatever thread in this section. Maybe you should title your thread "positive comments only, no negative comments allowed". But then again, it is the "Discussion Forum" so both positive & negative comments are expected.

I still hold some idn's and i do remember your spam appraisals to get your forum count up 'rent this space' and so on, i'll leave you with it and wonder if you have ever started a thread here other than a sale or auction ?

Actually he only compared technology with tech and IMO I would agree too.
.tech would be much better.
.technology gives you 10 characters form the start adding (.) 11, plus the keyword itself and you got a sentence already

Times are changing and i don't think it will be too hard to say a two word 'sentence' in voice search
~
The domain in my signature is one letter longer than technology.com and yes i have seen two word .technology domains that are not too flash
~
We are now in a world of brands and if catchy enough they will gain attention
~
we live in a world of information technology not information tech is what i am saying but not going to argue with everyone about gtlds as there is still a long way to go

EVIRTUAL I have been debating on Technology vs tech...As you stated, dot technology is long. Will dot TECH be better?

It depends on what you put on the left side. If it's a short powerful word then i wouldn't worry about the tld being a bit long. But if it is "somethinglonghere.technology" then i'd prefer .tech.

You just made a very important point concerning voice search. It is not IF but WHEN voice command communication matures enough for the masses these new gtld's will have a major plus. When you give a voice command i'd prefer love.guru instead of www.loveguru.com (as an example). The current generation of young people (hope i'm included lol) is what will define the next step for a major part.

i do think the next gen will grow up on things like voice search as second nature ….typing…. what's that ?
