What would happen to dot com domain names if google launches .goog and begins promoting their own .goog extension domain names?

google has billions of dollars to help launch .goog worldwide

and if google allows all .goog domain names to be listed on top of google search engines before any dot com domain names

and if all .goog owners will get more money for google adsense program

basically, all .goog owners will get first class vip treatment from google

what do you guys think would happen to dot com domain names???

.goog actually makes me think of Google, but I don't identify .go nor .ggl with Google. Goog is their stock symbol, so it makes sense.

My point is this, the topic of this thread may as well be "The Earth will blow up tomorrow if it is taken over by giant kangaroos." That's just another crazy hypothetical, and wouldn't draw a substantive discussion. Making the connection between the two, this too is just a crazy hypothetical, yet it seems that people are responding as if there is some substance to it. Obviously its fine to post about anything, discussion is great, but I was just giving my opinion that the topic behind this thread holds no substance.

It would purge the market, and lower other domain prices (obviously). It is not an entirely bad thing, although it is really not good for one company to have as much control as google... They have FAR too much power and influence in the web.. it really is a bad thing. The internet should not be influenced by such "monopolizing".

A lot of people would lose a lot of money (And consequently, a lot of people would make some too), but what would they do, boycott the internet?
