I have a handful of dot com's I'm going to try and sell, if there isn't a .net for the same name, I should go a head and register that too before I try and sell the .com right? I was thinking if I tried to sell a .com for 1000.00 why wouldn't the interested party save their time and money and register the .net for 10bucks? Is this logical or am I over thinking this?
Thanks- Trina :|

Don't register the .net, it will be a waste of money in the end IMO.

selling .coms could prove to be more difficult than you realize, let alone a matching .net. try your luck with .coms first, and if you find that you're really able to sell these fresh registrations, then get the .nets next time too.

Honestly, if the .NET is available that is normally not a great sign as far as resale value.

This is correct. If you bought the .com recently, you have to think to yourself, why hasnt someone come along and picked it up already? In no way am I saying, that your domains are not worth money, but you should know going in, that it doesent always work the way we would like it. If you would like, you can PM me the list of domains, I will take a look and let you know my personal and honest opinion (You dont have to worry about me registering the .net's)

Ill be looking for your PM :)

i wouldnt reg the .net, i have the experience of regging a .com and then the .net becouse it was free and it didnt worth.

I agree also with the fact that if .com was free and also the .net maybe it is not a high valuable domain

Some times it pays to get both .com and .net if they are available, for example if you want to sell the two together in a package sort of thing, but it's up to you, do you want to reg it? Or will it be a waste? It's up to you to make some thing of it.

trina1, may i add on to your discussion as it is related to the replies? (If this is against forum protocol, my apologies and will not do it again)

In Godaddy, there are many names for sale, eg Fathergift.com which is listed as a premium name. But the .net is blank.

Therefore since the .com equivalent is already accepted as a Premium Name, there is much less risk to register the .net name? And that it will also be a Premium Name?

Thanks.

That .com domain is not premium at all IMO

Most domains listed as premium on GD, are not.

Thus, registering the .net would be a bad decision.
