I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

Is it better to counter a $20 lowball bid or just ignore it?

On one hand, you never know who's bidding, but on the other no business is going to logically offer $20. So far, the most I've been able to get these nimrods up to is $150, so I'm leaning towards the "don't counter" side and hope they figure it out for themselves.

Has anyone ever been able to be a $20 lowballer to at least 4-figures?

I know @MapleDots would ignore them, but I personally don't mind entertaining them (at least for the time being).

Most of my $20 offers haven't gone anywhere but I did have one $50 starting-offer that I managed to get up to 1K. Other than that, the highest others went was up to 200-300 USD.

I also got another $20 offer on GD last week. It was a cannabis related domain I handregged 5 years ago. I countered at 1400 and they have since disappeared. I will likely revive the negotiations by submitting a slightly lower counter-offer eventually, but I'm hoping to at least get 1K (so I doubt i'll be successful).

If none of these $20 offers ever go anywhere, I will consider not responding and let them come back with a better offer (which they should do if they really want it). On the flipside, it could be beneficial to respond quickly to keep them interested, as they might have more than 1 domain in mind (and you might lose your chance if you ignore them).

no. all minimum bids now set @ $100. a while back i got a $30 bid @ gd, an hour later i got another for $35. he was trying to con me into thinking it was 2 bidders, hoping i would sent it to a 7 day auction. idiot. the last $XX bid i got i countered with $XX,XXX. i think he sh** himself.

Sure, 90% of the time, they're just testing you to see if you're stupid or desperate, I think when you use a sales platform its too easy for people to hide behind the anonymity and just throw out stupid offers. For most its basically a form of trolling. But not all are aware how they're coming across.

With a sales platform its too easy to just fire numbers back and forth. I find it best to get them into a conversation, which is why I prefer my own contact form which I can then respond to via email or even phone. Yes, it is more time consuming. But then you can have an actual conversation, extol the virtues of your name and thus justify the price, offer options like financing or leasing, etc...

So a simple lowball offer isn't something to completely not respond to. For one, now they're not even sure if you got the message, so they think there's no point in sending higher offers if you didn't even respond.

So I say respond respectfully and professional, you can be short and to the point. "Thanks for the offer, but I respectfully have to pass. This domain is worth significantly more than that and I'd much rather keep the domain than have $20". And add your price if you want to. At least you've acknowledged their message, and the negotiating door is still open. Use a template and it doesn't take much effort. Don't let it get to you.

I sold a domain this weekend for $400 USD via after Afternic DLS. It was a two-word .com that I handregged less than 10 months ago. I had recently reduced the price as I didn’t know if I wanted to renew it yet.

It’s not a .ca or a big sale but I thought I’d share as it may reassure some to know there is still life out there.

I think we should all share our offers and sales to help get an idea of what kind of action is happening during this crisis.

I've sold 2 domains via Afternic this year and both came after a price drop as well. Is there a monitoring tool to watch for price drops at Afternic (or elsewhere) or is this just a coincidence?

Nice. I don't know of any monitoring options at GD or Afternic so I assume it's a coincidence. I think i also lowered my price a couple weeks ago so the sale didn't happen immediately after.

I got my usual selection of GD lowballs, received a min-bid Sedo offer, and surprisingly, while I was adding a few domains yesterday night, I noticed that I had two outstanding broker requests on Afternic from the past few weeks.

My email is fine and correct on Afternic (nothing was in Spam) so I can only surmise they didn't go out correctly, but I responded on the site. Hopefully something comes from it, as I have had pretty good luck in that area lately (3 for 3).

I should add that it's probably not a coincidence that these domains sold at a lower price.

I'm thinking (i.e. hoping) domain sales will continue as usual, maybe even increase, but the overall sales price people are willing to pay will decrease.
