I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

For the Rebel promotion does anyone know if you need to register them all in one go, or if you can get up to the number over a few sessions within their time window?

Anytime, any day, Rebel just keeps a counter on the number of times you used the promo until September 30.

And if you're new to Rebel, be sure to call support and ask to take "Auto-Renew" off so that you're not renewed like 45 days before it expires. Other than that crazy a$$ feature (which cannot be disabled by the user), Rebel is pretty cool and easy to work with.

Easy, just get them to disable the Auto-Renew feature on your account and you'll be golden.

So I buy a few domains there..hold for a few months then before transferring out ask to have auto renewal disabled?

Not sure if it was Rebel or another Canadian company (not Namespro) but had a helluva of a time transferring out a few years back...wasn't impressed.

not Rebel...they have always been quick and trouble free for me with transfers

Auto renew was an issue before. They bill 45 days before expiry. Easy to turn off.
I requested auth codes last night got them in minutes.
Go into redemption and its 18.99 + 5$ recovery fee though.
Overall the system is clunky and they dont impress me

Nope, but I am repeating the "call support and disable auto-renew" because so many people forget and get into a lot of trouble.

For example, even if you're extra-careful and use Paypal or delete your CC, at 45 days before expiration, Rebel locks the domain in Domain Manager for non-payment and if you want to transfer out, you need to call in and talk to a few people before they give you a code. And even then you might need to call back to make sure it's unlocked.

On another forum there were people literally caught in transfer hell with Rebel wanting the renewal funds and locking an already-sold domain until they got it.

So everyone do themselves a favor and call support to disable auto-renew. :-P

It's easy to turn off because people like me started calling the CIRA and complaining about being billed 45 days ahead of the actual renewal date. When Rebel first changed their policy,, there was not even a way to disable the lame-a$$ auto-renew "feature".

When I first got my account's auto-renew disabled, I must have talked to 6 people at Rebel before it finally got done, and everyone kept telling me it was no problem, and the feature was there to "protect my domains" and that if I didn't want one, I could "cancel it before the 45 days started". Finally, I got a manager who gave me a big sigh (like I was being such a bother) and disabled the auto-renew.

It got so bad I was literally going to drive down there and punch someone in the face... repeatedly.

Instead I was a nice Canadian and called the CIRA, let them know my horrible experience and the guy said they'd talk to Rebel about streamlining the process to disable it.

You still have to call in, and there is no way to do it yourself from your account, but at least now the CSRs will do it ASAP without any jerking you around.

with rebel you also get auto renewal disabled for your account by sending in a ticket. mine was pretty terse:
'i would like the auto renew feature turned off for all of my present and future domains'.
answer: i have turned off the auto renew as requested.

Good!

April 2018 I spent less than 6 minutes in a support chat to have their auto renew "option" added to my account there. In the bigger picture we're bringing all of our names back under one roof… it's just easier to have everything in one place.

I noticed on the DAN blockchain ticker of current sales last night that G r e e n V o i c e .ca (not my domain name) just sold. Be interesting to see if it is for election related use, or something else environmental. Nice name. Parked as of this morning.

Also interesting in that on some site visitation stats that almost 5% of recent visitors to DAN have been from Canada. Anyone sell many .ca there?

Bob

No sales yet, moved around 20 there last month. Lots of looky loos for:
TaxSaver
ImmigrationReform

Sadly, no hard bites.

The .CA To Be Released (TBR) Weekly Picks for September 25 are online:

The .CA numbers have jumped up a bit this week, but there has been a more noticeable increase to the premium domain supply, in terms of LLL, single-word and even NNN options. Our Top Picks List is filled to the brim this Wednesday, and includes the ultra-premium...

Sh*t Just Got REAL!

That whole "Realtor" TM is one big scam anyway and I wonder how much payola it cost them.

From now on I am not going to use the term, and refer to them as "Real Estate Agents" and if they tell me they're "Realtors" I'l say "Sorry, that's not a real word - and that comes straight from your association".

Wow, REAL.CA did not go first and maybe not even in the Top 10, as it had a time of:

19:00:00.669 (to MyID, naturally)

Last week that would have been 18th.

Something is definitely up with the times, as SNE.CA went at 19:00:01.010.
