Anyone have data on the Sibername auctions?

Anyone have data on the Sibername auctions?

Sibername was extended until tomorrow because people were unable to bid apparently due to another technical issue. It seemed to be true, no bids moved at all today.

I finally got off my butt this morning and upgraded the site to SSL, changed all the WP settings, updated plugins, changed some relative image links (to get rid of mixed-mode yellow flags), made the necessary SEO updates on Google and Bing, then finally edited the .htaccess file for HTTPS redirects.

The result: DomainRecap.com now gets an A rating for SSL!

Nice work DR (y)

Thanks, and it's scary how the latest browser versions are really hammering on HTTP sites - I was on my iPhone last night seeing how the DomainRecap.com site fared in mobile, and on Safari I noticed I was getting tons of warnings like "this is an insecure site" and sometimes it would just load a blank page with an "redirected from an insecure site" error.

Wow - I couldn't believe people were surfing a non-ID/password/transaction site and seeing this bizarre crap. It must have been a recent update, as it worked fine a few weeks ago.

Chrome is almost as bad, and it flashes a "Insecure" warning on every page, and while Firefox doesn't do squat to HTTP pages (?), if you use HTTPS but have any HTTP images, media or other items, then it gives a prominent Yellow flag "mixed media" security warning.

I know they're trying to "protect" people from scammers, but my God, this is quickly turning into a witch hunt.

just curious on yuour thoughts on 4N.ca names

but I don't mean just random ones.. but ones which reflect years to come in nearby future..

I know most are taken...

as example I own 2024... and I wonder if u think it has potential and is worth keeping??

I mean does it make sense to think that when year 2024 comes around.. it'll be great to own (for an enduser/business) the domain 2024...ca?

anybody else here keeping such names for nearish future? or had interest in past when the year on yer name was about to come? offers/sales

thanks!

Interesting question, and I haven't really though about it.

2067 would be a good one to hold for the kids, but I'm not sure of random years,

Not an extension nut an actual mulligan at Sibername. Odor.ca is going to reauctioned on Thurs 28th.

Already won it once, wont participate in the mulligan.

Hope the winner gets it for $60.

Wow, that's crazy and must be disappointing to experience this first-hand.

Any idea where happened, or do we just chock it up to the usual "something happened that the Registrar decided might have lost them money"?

In the absence of any information anything I say would be pure speculation.

The name is marginal enough in my view that it doesn't hurt to walk away.

The .CA To Be Released (TBR) Weekly Picks for March 27 are online:

The overall .CA numbers are up significantly this week but the quantity and quality of the TBR domain names has not increased by a commensurate amount. In fact, the domain selection is decidedly mediocre this week and it seems weโ€™ve been spoiled by these last few TBR lists. This time out, the best Top Picks we could find included...

CIRA's top picks include:
Bankofme
Goosebusters
Findad
Forgiveme
Whodis
Thesockdoc
Safetyjuggling
Lawncrimes
Bassdropmusicfestival
Beavertown
Hockeyparents - Duhh, it has hockey in it.
Forcefitness - A nice accoutrement to whoever got Jedi last week.

Then they ask the question:

"Not inspired by our great ideas?"

Hard to take CIRA seriously.

Look to me like CIRA has a "Agenda" ..only logic that I can see to list as "top picks"

A lot of names in TBRโ€™s that are actually picked up are crap! But I think some people like the โ€œchaseโ€. Or feel like them won something if they get a name from the TBR. It really is mind boggling.
