I always quote in CDN funds. Makes it easier for me and for the buyer who doesn’t want to do the conversion into CDN funds. Again, I like to stay Canadian as much as possible.

Forgot to update. Sibername followed through with the original auctions. I retained the win without having to participate again. This was for multiple auctions-I'm assuming all of them for that TBR, as I wasn't able to reload on quiet.ca-which went for $600 I believe .

Just filled out CIRA's latest survey. It's very limited in the way that it sources feedback. The survey is designed to control your responses ie: "Not likely" to"Very likely" or on a numeric scale of 1-10, canned responses. There is only one small text box which is too small to attempt to go into any in depth criticism, constructive or otherwise. However, I managed to squeeze in some criticisms about lack of registrar oversight, not policing Canadian presence requirements and general "cliquish/insiderish" of CIRA's persona.

Anyway, I had 15 minutes this afternoon. It might be worth your time. There is a $500 draw for those who fill it out.

OK, so I finally found a blog that has helped give me a cursory understanding of the numeric market:

For those that don't know, the domain name is 75.ca - so the valuation is:

More valuable than 00-09 (the 10 non-premiums that start with 0)
More valuable than 44 (because 4 means death in Chinese[who don't meet the presence requirements{so that's weird, and probably negated by the large Chinese Canadian population}])

Less valuable than
10 (ends in zero+lower in Benford's law)
11 (pairs+lower in Benford's law)
12 (lower in Benford's law)
88 (8 is great +pairs)
98 (9 is good 8 is great beats Benford's law)
95 (9 is good and 5 means "I" beats Benford's law)

So the valuation is in the lower end of the 2n's - how that translates into dollars - I don't know. My gut tells me it's worth more than 441.ca which dropped recently (double death, nothing) and probably less than or equal to 234.ca which also dropped recently (sequence,although death at the end,which also adds up to 9-which is good)?

Is that about right?

why is it everytime someone talks about a numbered domain they always refer to the 'chinese market'?why don't you you say f--- the chinese market,list it at a bunch of market places with a slightly higher than expected price,to give yourself some wiggle room, and see what happens?

Since .CA is not open to the Asian market, and .COM really has its own rules:

1) Any NN.CA will almost certainly outrank any NNN.CA, other than very, very special NNN combos, and this is the trend in other non-COM extensions like .CC, .IO, and .CO.

Any thought that in .ca Canadian numbers with special meaning to this country might have extra weight? e,g, 9 is often used in Canadian sports for a star position as is 99. Number 67 has obvious links to the year of confederation. 49 have significance because of 6-49. Perhaps others?

In three numbers am I correct that the Canadian area codes would have high value?

Just wondering out loud. I have never invested in numbered .ca, so know even less than I do about most domain topics !

I think very famous sports stars would be a definite market, like for something like 99 or 66 (both of which are Chinese sites BTW).

Just got a flyer to my door as an advertisement for a metal roof.

They used the domain yesmetal.ca

What the hell were they thinking, with the availability of .ca's they could easily have gone for something more descriptive with the words metal roof as keywords.

I just looked at the domain and shook my head.... say it 3 times and it is still a poor application for the end user.

Personally I would have gone 3 words... something like

MetalRoofWorks.ca - as in a Metal Roof Works

Anything that would describe the business when placed on a flyer or radio ad.
YesMetal means nothing unless you add a picture of a metal roof.
