I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The .CA Registry is down today and apparently they are upgrading to a new system between 6AM and 4PM. No .CA name searches, no WHOIS, no TBR, no emails or messages...

I just sold a domain, went to get the transfer code and everything locked up. Damn.

Thanks for the heads up.
Hopefully no one has left any renewals โ€˜til the very last hours :xf.eek:
I see notices at some registrars now but curious if there was any advance notice of this from CIRA... I didnโ€™t get anything in my email that I recall.

Nope, no warnings or email alerts that I saw, and it was all a big surprise to me when I tried to get the transfer code.

Yep, the geniuses behind the redesign just slapped every TBR listing for the next 2 weeks into one big fat list.

Words cannot describe the low IQ required to design something like this.

You have to click the release date arrow and it will bring you the current weekO_o
Not the usual page I use to search the TBR but in a pinch I guess itโ€™s an option

Nope, that's just a basic sort function, and all the two weeks of TBR listings are still there when you search or download - they're just at the end. Hitting it again puts them at the start.

There doesn't seem to be any way to just view/search/download this week's TBR list.

Not that there aren't ways around it with Excel or similar, it's just a very messy way to do something that used to be pretty easy, and to be honest, quite a hack job of programming it to amalgamate 2 weeks of TBR domains, when in the past they were separated by week.

For example, I always look at the number of TBR listings, as that tells me if there is a potential for a landslide of hot domains, and it was always right at the top of the report.

Release Date: 2019/02/06
Release Time: 14:00 and 15:00
Number of Domain Names on the List: 8956

Now, you need to download everything to Excel, sort and cut out all the future week's data, and then either run a cell count or go to the last cell to see how many .CA domains there are.

Good job.

"These unasked for changes to the TBR are atrocious. The new setup is complicated, unwieldy and slow to load. I never asked for CIRA's help to parse the TBR list, I have had my own system for over 10 years.

It wasn't broke.

Unhappy regards,

Chris Stephenson

Why are there so relatively few sales listed for .ca domain names on NameBio? Is it simply that almost all sales occur in ways not publicly announced?

If I am remembering correctly, Paul Nick's NamesCon presentation mentioned .ca as one of the country code extensions with significant Afternic sales.

Look for some advice from those with success in .ca sales. By many measures the ..ca extension is very healthy in use, but seems lacking in publicly listed sales of late.
