The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Thanks for the list, @DomainRecap.

When I saw the name, wondered if any chance McLuhan had been in use in past for a site for late Marshall McLuhan, but it seems from Wayback Machine not.

Nope, there are several Marshall McLuhan sites, but they are either charities using ORG or the primary one using his full name in .COM.

I think it's a pipe dream to think his heirs would spend any money on a last-name .CA. In this case, it's his whole name that resonates.

P.S. Whenever I see his name I immediately think of his cameo in Woody Allen's Annie Hall. :xf.grin:

Man, I think 90% of my day has been taken up by deleting the constant influx of "Your Domain Manager has been Upgraded" emails from WHC. I think I'm going to get one for every domain I own...

Anyone else?

P.S. Thanks a lot Frank @Frank Michlick

Looks like ExcellentDomains.ca (Ilze Kaulins) just went on a selling spree and has charted four .CA domains on DN Journal, including the 2-letter MA.ca:

MA.ca: $46,856 USD
Diva.ca: $4,238 USD
Chandler.ca: $3,780 USD
Dagenais.ca: $3,780 USD
Evans.ca: $3,780 USD

The list also included CasinoRewards.ca at $8,500 USD.

Good job, as it makes up for my crappy month so far.

Anyone else suddenly getting all their WHC email correspondence in French?

Wow, last week's TBR was the ultimate example of front-running on premium domains.

MyID landed Hard.ca (the only premium on the list) first overall, but the next 13 picks were by WHC, and MyID didn't get another selection until Pick 27. :xf.rolleyes: O_o

MyID really went HARD last week and literally sacrificed the entire first-round of the TBR run to get it. Great for them, as it sold for just over $2K, but probably not so good for people ordering non-HARD-related domains from them.

BTW, when you go to CIRA WHOIS (https://www.cira.ca/ca-domains/whois), does the whois for ConvoyTraitors.ca pop up automatically?

I though it might be just a resident link, but it happens on all my browsers and even my phone, which I've never used WHOIS for.

•••
It looks like my Internet provider has that WHOIS link cached, so I think it's time to flush it.

As for this week's TBR, it seems like someone dropped a pile of US cities - nothing too big, but stuff like Tempe, Brownsville, Peoria, Topeka, Lubbock, etc. Quite a few, so there might be a good one in there.

Did you fix this issue?
Flushing the dns didn't work. Checked the whois page using VPN and same issue.

I flushed the DNS + cache and then I had a new .CA domain that I never looked up, but today I'm back to normal.

Check yours to see if the issue is corrected, and if not, flush the DNS and browser cache to see if that works.

This is a really, really bad TBR week, even against the recent "Bad Week" barometer, and I didn't find even a single domain that loosely resembled a premium. There are only three LLLs, all steaming junk, and so far the WHC Hot Bid List amounts to a total of three domains....

Uh oh, it looks like MyID is down again.

Why are they always down on Monday, when I want to get some domain work done at lunch?

While we've addressed some of the language switching issues, there are still some left. We've just tracked down how to reproduce the (hopefully last) remaining issue and will hopefully deploy a fix soon. Thank you for reporting it. Is your interface displaying in English?

We've migrated the users of our old Domain Manager clients to our new hosted DNS solution. This is a one domain at a time process (and the emails are being sent after completion), but should be completed now, unless you have MGR Pro, those will be coming soon, too.

Also, to ensure a timely response, please feel free to email me - frank at whc dot ca.

Yes, my dashboard read English while at WHC it read French, so I after conversing with support for awhile, I just went ahead and switched to back and forth from English to French and then back to English... and it worked and we both see English now.

Rebel just announced a $2.99 .ca sale, maximum 10 per user.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am thanking my lucky stars that a) I have other side hustles making money and b) I banked my 2022 domain sales revenue just for a time like this, because .CA looks dead in terms of sales or even realistic offers.

I made one .CA sale over the past 1.5 months (luckily a big one) and all I do now is deal with a deluge of penniless lowballers who are looking to steal premium domains. I still get lots of what-seem-like-bidders, but who are in actuality just hobo sharks looking for victims.

If this continues I may take November off to work on my other side-efforts, and not even bother following up on domain sales unless the offer is very high. Still buying TBR .CA domains if the price is right, but dealing with these lowballing turds is no longer worth my time.

I hope everyone is doing better than me.

I just wanted to let everyone know there is a new .CA TBR drop-catcher in town, and it's a bit different format as everything ordered and won goes to open auction. Not sure if the site is fully operational yet, but there are some auctions running from older TBR wins:

Who is behind it? About us doesn’t exist.

Just got a scary error at WHC, the old "you have invalid domains" one, but I didn't and thankfully when I hit the emergency "fix it" button, the two domains I had ordered both passed through.

No idea what was going on there, as I hadn't processed anything on that account since last week. Probably some "ghost cart" from the ancient past coming back to haunt me.

@DomainRecap I got the same error as well and I clicked the button as well.

No idea (though it seems to be a big domain investor from Montreal) and the site states "Beta" but it's not even Alpha level and I can't believe it's being launched for retail orders and registrations in this condition.

There are missing links and 404 errors, there is no List Sorting, the Contact email form errors out, few functions are active, Social Media buttons are inactive.. and I could go on and on and on.

I just attempted to set up an account, complete with CC required, and naturally I did not receive a Verification Email and did not receive any on subsequent requests.

How are people signing up and buying TBR domains through these guys, as this week's wins are already for sale on various domain marketplaces...

Got a ahold of CD and they fixed it up and I'm now an Active/Verified customer.

There are definitely some issues with the Beta site, but now that I have full access, I'm impressed with some of the features, such as user auctions.

This site at least has some potential, but I really hope they switch that into video to manual-start, rather than having Harold Faltermeyer boot up each time I log-in.

This is usually if some domains are left in your cart from the previous week, i.e. if you switched computers or so. Since those are stored locally in a cookie, we've added this "one-click" functionality to remove them.
