I have owned this domain since the beginning of time and now I have decided is the time to sell it. I put it up for auction at sedo last November but the bidding only got up to $7500. After the auction a bidder offered me $15,000 which I declined.

This seems like a dynamite domain to target college kids. Market could be academic, fashion, vacation, xxx. Yet I am not getting the kind of bids that I had hoped for.

What gives?

Current bid is $1,200 on Sedo ... I think it's definitely an upper low - mid $X,xxx+ domain name (and even more to an End user)! :tu: :imho:

What kind of stats / traffic is it receiving (which could add to potential valuations)? :talk:

I could see something like Dormroom.com or MyDorm.com doing just as well in this space.

Adjectives and pronouns fall at the base of the pyramid. One word domains are the all seeing eye at the top of the pyramid. I disagree strongly that my this or best that or e-that or i-that will compete with the real predator at the top of the food chain.

somewhere around 1650 views at the auction in the last 30 days. Hits are averaging 2 per day on direct navigation.

Nice name. Definitely a low $xx,xxx name. Best if you develop it. Can be a dorm guide or even dorm reviews.

I like the domain. I think dormroom has a more personal feel (less formal) to it and would be easier to brand. But dormitory is a very nice dictionary word. Congrats!

I think the true test of any domainNAME is whether or not someone will remember it after not visiting the site for a year. After a year many domain surfers will invariably not remember the full url and end up going to some derivative of the original domainName. :imho:
