Hey nP members,

we all know that the TLD space has changed completely.

While we can see many creative and great domains made from new TLDs we can see much more really weird and pointless .combinations - means weird and pointless domain name combinations in the .com extension - it often just looks like that 'it must be a .com in every case - no matter how pointless the name combination itself is'.

There are now so many opportunities to 'label' meaningful domain names with a new TLD - I personally recommend .top for the optimum / best 'label' - don't think .com is the future.

Do you agree?
Or not?
What is your opinion?

Right. Though in the modern English speaking world, .top is primarily used as gay slang to indicate sexual position, e.g: .top or .bottom ;)

.

Interesting. I didn't know that. So maybe toptoptoptoptop...........top could eventually sell to a gay billionaire with an obsession of being on .top:)

Not as hard as you think.
Maybe 1 % but 99 % not.
This correaltion is meaningless.

'top' is globaly used as 'top (best) of whatever'.
Just listen radio ads or watch TV ads or read newspaper ads or ranking lists and so on.
'top' means 'top' means 'best / highest / most succesfull / ...'.
I don't care about other meaningless usages.

yeah.. a dated old-fashion definition of the word.. when people still wore top hats, etc. back in the 1890s.. lol Get with the times, man. Chinese like the word "top" because in simple English it makes sense. But it's an old word.. that most people don't use anymore in the way you're assuming.

What do you think??? ?? ?
com/net/org will be still on top of the .top in popularity! in number of registrations? probably, because .top is cheap, cheap = trash. What I believe is .top is the next .mobi.

No, you are wrong.
Visit Europe and you will see it's real meaning.
'top' in gay slang may exist but this doesn't bother me because it's meaningless for the rest of the world (for non gays like me for example).

BTW
There are also existing many other words with more than one meaning but what most counts is the primarily meaning of the word and in the case of 'top' it's definitely not the gay slang meaning.

All your tryings to bring the global future #1 top TLD .top together with this gay slang is ridiculous.

The TLD .top has NOTHING to do with the usage of this term by gays and I clearly dissociate myself from this term in it's gay slang meaning because I am not gay and I am proud to be not gay.

The TLD .top is created / meant like as 99 % of global population understand it:
'top' = 'best / highest / most successfull / ...'

There is no doubt about that ;)

Do you have .bottom domains as well?

In the gay male sex world, the top to bottom ratio is totally skewed towards bottoms.

http://thoughtcatalog.com/madison-moore/2013/09/14-reasons-its-harder-being-a-bottom-than-a-top/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top,_bottom_and_versatile

In human sexuality, top, bottom and versatile are sex positions during sexual activity, especially between two men. A top is usually a person who penetrates, a bottom is usually one who receives penetration, and a versatile engages in both activities or is open to engaging in either activity. These terms may be elements of self-identity that indicate an individual's usual preference, but might also describe broader sexual identities.[1]

Top, bottom and versatile are also used in BDSM to describe similarโ€”but distinctโ€”BDSM identities and practices.

Not true.

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=top+gay

166,000,000 results on Google for gay + top

I corrected: The TLD .top has nothing to do with it.

I am sure you know that so that's really ridicules hahaahaaa
Everybody knows how the TLD .top is meant ('top' = 'best') - it's not my problem if you probably not and if so, I am sure you will understand it's true meaning sooner or later - at least when it became the #1 global TLD.

@kingof.top In all honesty, you've got one major high-level flaw in your domaining activities IMO. You conceptualize around them as they are some abstract meta-entities. You seem to categorize them not on a industry/information/application level but on a more abstract level that is a weird mix of semantics, rhetorics, psychology, and faith.

Domains simply don't work like that. Domains are supposed to be either straightforward and descriptive, or catchy and brandable (or both). The less you have to 'communicate' them the better. At least if you're planning to sell them to anyone.

Anyway, if you're enjoying what you're doing then I guess all is well...

Thx for your opinion, interesting, but be sure I know what I do and why and I will sell what I create - if not today then tomorrowww.

I think .top will remain in a dominant position for a long time but if ICANN ever permits .bottom. .bottom will be more popular than .top
