Hey nP members,

we all know that the TLD space has changed completely.

While we can see many creative and great domains made from new TLDs we can see much more really weird and pointless .combinations - means weird and pointless domain name combinations in the .com extension - it often just looks like that 'it must be a .com in every case - no matter how pointless the name combination itself is'.

There are now so many opportunities to 'label' meaningful domain names with a new TLD - I personally recommend .top for the optimum / best 'label' - don't think .com is the future.

Do you agree?
Or not?
What is your opinion?

.run is managed by Donuts.
And I think that sun.run is classified as Premium... and Renewal is also non-standard there.

The real success for any TLD is when average keywords are able to sell for 4-figure...

Oh I agree absolutely, and if you believe it too, as per your thread and above statement, why do you register things like:
toptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptop.top

That is utterly weird.

And your claim of "the most expensive domain in the world" is just silly, and wrong. That title is honoured to a sale not a for-sale price set by an owner.

Otherwise, there is one more expensive than yours! Gasp deep inhale...
I declare a domain name I own is $1 more to buy than yours is.

Same as your "linked.industries", which you claim is worth "high 5 figures". It's a weird combination that so few could even use, let alone desired to be used by anyone.

In other words, .top will blow away .com

Thats why com.top worths more IMO than top.com because current is smarter than oil.

Unfortunately your opinion is simply that, and while you are entitled to it, given the stats and obvious current marketplace values, you are actually wrong.

You are losing yourself in your own hype.
3L.com is worth 5 figures, 3L.top is worth what?
Adding to that a real keyword any business could make use of, "top.com" returns a high figure sale.
"com.top" is not.

I hope you see sense soon. Sure reg some heavy keywords in .top, and even two premium keywords together hoping it'll be a TLD which goes nuts in the future. But those 63 domains you register are the exact things you raised this thread about in the first place - "weird combinations" and they'll never sell...

Living in a country like Thailand helps.

I have been living from this for more than two years, starting from just a handful names. But, I spend a lot of time with it. Ok, I have to admit that it's not a VERY satisfying salary yet, but it puts food on the table and pays the bills.

Not much, as we don't live in a hut, rents a scooter and eat rice and noodles dishes all the time.

A car costs twice as much as in the US. I prefer wine more than rice beers, my gym membership is almost 700 dollars a year, my computers are more expensive as well and so on. I would say that our total costs here are almost the same as we had in Europe.

Maybe it's because I'm a native English speaker, but when I hear / read .top the only thing that comes to mind is gay slang.. e.g: top / bottom. Ways that gay guys refer to their preferred position in bed.

It's kind of like.. 30 years ago "gay" may have meant "to be happy" but now-a-days it has a different meaning. Perhaps non-native English speakers don't realize this.

I mean, frankly, besides the spam issues and other things.. I wouldn't want a web site ending in .top or .bottom or anything else with blatant overtones like that. It just sounds weird, awkward, and embarrassing.

Another point... the word "top" should be placed right before nouns.. not the other way around.
top.brands YES
top.products YES
top.laptops YES

brands.top, products.top, laptops.top NO NO NO

It's kind of like Google's .how extension. It just sounds funny and strange appearing right of the dot.

I sold it to SUNRUN in the com over six months ago..

Type in is what it is all about. These new extensions must be a two word type in if any value is to be made.
Sounding good just doesn't cut it.

Kingof.top is an excellent example of weird.

Thx for your opinion/s.
Let me reply in the following:

This thread is called '...weird .combinations (dot combination)'.

My toptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptop.top isn't a weird .combination because it is not weird in my eyes and it's a .top domain in all's eyes.

But of course I respect it if you think that this is a weird .top domain - I can understand it too but I will never stop explainig and arguing why this domain is the most expensive domain of all time if there is something unclear.
It's not silly nor wrong because it is a fact that this domain can't be topped and that's why it is the most expensive domain of all time. - although you say that this title is honoured to a sale only.
Here I have to say that this is wrong, because I don't call my domain the most expensive sold domain of all time. - I call it the most expensive domain of all time.

And if you say your domain costs 1.00 USD more than mine than mine goes automatically up in it's price.
Always.

You will find not one domain which can top this domain in it's logical meaning because again, this domain can't be topped.
Never.
This domain is 100 % above all existing domains.

I hope this helps a bit to understand the mindblowing dimension of this domain.
This thread was not meant to discuss this domain - so I will open an extra thread about it at another time.

  • linked.industries
It's also not a weird .combination - it's more a high rememberable meaningful new TLD combo for which I will accept only offers above XX,XXX.xx USD

  • top.com VS com.top
I expect that com.top will kick top.com into the atmosphere of irrelevance nowhere.

  • 63.Domains
That's another Level which have nothing to do do with weird .combinations.
You are welcome to discuss it here:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/top

'top' stands in 99 % of it's global use for 'best', 'highest', 'most successful' etc.
This extension has nothing to do with your mentioned gay slang and is better than all other extensions together.

Try to understand it as a label, than it works well after the dot.

.top is not the new .com (no need to be) - it will be the global #1 top TLD and that's why it is called .top

To be honest - like you I don't know the future but I think I am right because .top is global used as 'the top of whatever'.

Right. Though in the modern English speaking world, .top is primarily used as gay slang to indicate sexual position, e.g: .top or .bottom ;)

Just like the example that I gave.. 20 - 30 years ago .gay only meant to be merry, happy.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/gay
a. carefree and merry: a gay temperament.
b. brightly coloured; brilliant: a gay hat.
c. given to pleasure, esp in social entertainment: a gay life.

All I'm saying is that there is just something more than a little bit weird about .top. First that it was created in communist China, and secondly that it's primary use in modern day-to-day English is seriously, no-joke, as a gay slang term.
