I've recently been seeing many people register their domains at domainsite. Are they any good?

Also, while I was looking at their pricing, what's the difference between a basic and a full?

If I get a basic domain, can I host it on a site? It says that DNS Management is not supported, so I'm not so sure...

Thank you

I think if you do url forwarding for example you wanna people which are going at www.mywebsite.com at www.hosting1.mywebsite.com/index.htm(example)

I like domainsite and haven't had any problems with them up to now.
For general websites, basic feature is enough in my opinion.

I have registered over 1000 domains with Domainsite and im very satisfied with them.

I use basic registration for most of my registrations with them and i can host the names i just change the dns to 2 of my own nameservers and then include the name as a addon domain in cpanel.

so i can use

mywebsite.com/index.htm

Never had any problem with this.

Nikos ,
DNS management access would not and doesn't limit the ability to have a website index.htm file
What it limits is the ability to add and modify the advanced features of DNS

DomainSite is NOT a GOOD registrar , actually from my experiences it is near the top of the WORST Registrar list

1/ Sending out repeated Domain Name renewal Reminder Emails for Names long transferred to different owners or Registrars . When I contacted support they gave me a lame excuse that they didn't have my email address. You know the one they emailed the reminders to.

2/ Delayed repeatedly, the transferring of several near expiry names using the excuse that they didn't get the transfer request emails. The same ones were all acknowledged by the shaved apes that masquarade as the Support dept. By the way all these names went into expiry because of their delays. All were purchases from NPer's

3/ Refusal to remove from my account details of names long sold.

These are just 3 of many similiar and varied incidents

I haven't really had the opportunity to deal with them customer service wise as I haven't needed any, but I have been registering names with them lately and their DNS is very fast. I usually get the basic since I mostly just point them directly to the website they are intended for rather than subdomains or the like.

Even with basic reg. in Domainsite you can use : Edit nameservers option and you can point your domains to your hosting nameservers. No problem. Lock domain option is also available.

For me the support have always been very good at Domainsite and also very fast.

Fast push from account to account also, if i need to push some names to another person.

Transfering names from other registrars to Domainsite have always also been fast for me. Have done this about 50 times.

The same here. I appreciate Domainsite as a good and cheap registrar offering also IDNs regs. I had no problem with pushing/transfering domains there.

This thread is a kind of: "I like them - I hate them". My domains feel good at Domainsite :)

I've had minor problems with transfers, billing, etc, but it's always been worked out. Show me where I can register names on a one by one basis for <$7 with fewer problems and I'll give it a try.
