Hi Folks,

Wanted to get some feedback. I am intersted in the domain name, domainnameservice.com which is held by none - other than - buydomains.com.

Asking price as it seems it $2688.00. In your professional opinions, would you believe this to be a wise investment on someones part or not? I know that promoting a site and link exchange etc can mean everything, but my question is considering the overture numbers on the term (varies dramatically month to month) do you feel that it could potentially get a decent SE rank based on the keywords alone? Of course, as many of you know I am a big fan of the Enom PDQ, so I would be using this as a seperate entity along with another PDQ site. I do quite well with dandydomain.com but not sure if this other name is worth sinking $2688 into, and I doubt BD will negotiate.

Input appreciated.

In my opinion lsutiger, I don't think it would really be worth to invest in such a domain simply because of its length. I'm pretty sure you could come with another name that can also be shorter at the same time. If you are looking for suggestions, you might want to check out http://www.nameboy.com/ which can give you some domain name suggestions on popular keywords.

It shows 5720 OV searches at present = approx 57,200 monthly searches on all SE's.
Out of curiousity, I ran OVsearches on some of the registrars w/ following results:

15201 register.com
10357 go daddy
4850 networksolutions.com
1158 dotster
739 enom

DomainNameService stacks up very favorably w/ these already active businesses, My *intuition* is to go w/ it, because you are obviously going to develop it and there is built in traffic by nature of the name's descriptive quality.

But, I'm not shelling out the bucks, and there may be others w/ more experience in SEO, that have some less intuitive advice.

Best of luck!:tu:

Thanks for the feedback Raf. Much appreciated. The only reason I thought about going that route was because I notice at google there are several sites showing up in top 10 for certain keywords or phrases that are one page reseller sites (particularly Wild West resellers) which have been copied using basic html. I don't see a ton of incoming links on either of the sites so I assumed that perhaps the SE placement was from the key phrases. Either way, I was a little skepticle of the length to begin with. It amazes me how the SE's as sophisticated as they are could rank a site such as XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.COM above one such as register.com in some instances. Go figure. I suppose if we knew all the secrets of the SE's we'd all be rich! Anyway, many thanks.

Yeah I know, other than the length of the domain the keywords are good and such. But if you plan to develop the name for example, something nice and short is what brings users back. But that also depends on the quality of the service as well. :p

My knee jerk reaction was too much for a name that was too long, until I saw the OV results. Also, (sorry RAF), unless they have improved over the past year, Nameboy is a terrible place to get alternative names. I don't use that type of tool very often, so I can't suggest one, but Iknow there are better from past experience.

Grrilla, I am certain that it would make a nice addition to my portfolio, and yes, I plan to develop it (if you call using PDQ developing). The thing is, I am not all that terribly crazy about spending the $$$$ either. The main thing that concerns me is that of all the domainers in the world, why hasn't someone already shelled out the bucks for it. I am going to put some more thought into it and hopefully others will leave their feedback as well. I wouldn't think twice about buying this name if it were not for the fact that I have had my eye on it for several months now. I believe it was in April or possibly May of this year that overture showed more than 200,000 when I typed in the term. Hence the reason I mentioned above that overture varies greatly month-to-month on these keywords. Anyway, thanks to you also for your feedback. I knew I could count on my fellow namepros members to assist me in my decision making process. :)

Yep, thats what were here for lsutiger. Also to tell you the truth I don't know of any other domain name suggestion tools, thats just the one that popped into my head at the time. But that doesn't matter really because were focusing more on the decision if you should register this domain name or not. Do you know for sure though lsutiger that the price is that which you mentioned above?

Yes, Raf, just type the name into your browser and you will be directed to the for sale page at buydomains.com. Decisions...decisions. ;)

Oh okay, well maybe you'll get some other suggestions or opinions from members later on. But you might want to do a little more research I guess in terms of buying domains from them and such, maybe even looking for some reviews which might help you out as well.

I think a 17 letter domain name like that isn't worth the asking price, despite it's valuable phrasing.

I have reached that same conclusion Anthony. Put alot of thought into this over the past few months and my mind is made up. Nice combination phrase, but just not worth the risk. :)

Thanks for the feedback.
