Ok, I have been buying and selling domains since 2008. During 2010 till about mid 2012, I was buying domains from Namejet and Godaddy and it was relatively easy to resell via email marketing. I would research the advertisers and organic search results on google, go to domaintools and/or the website and contact the owners/website operators and make the sale.
Since mid 2012, Domaining has been very difficult. Hard to find and/or acquire domains, hard to get responses back from emails...just anything and everything that could go wrong has. I went from making 1000-2000 a month to barely making sales. Maybe its the domains I've chosen, maybe its the market, maybe both, I don't feel like I'm doing anything different. Has the smartphone and application market made the difference? Are people not buying domains like they used to? I just don't know.
The reason I'm asking is that I have a little bit of money $X,xxx to invest but the way its been going has me wary of buying a domain/domains and not being able to flip them. I want to know if anybody has had similar domaining issues and have had to hit the reset button and re-figure it out again.
What types of domains are easier to sell then others? Industry..? (for instance I find financial domains to be the hardest to flip, get responses from possible buyers) What sales tactics do you employ and how successful has domaining been to you lately.
Thanks,
Eric
