In response to this thread and to try to STOP the confusion of this old thread title I decided to create a new one to clarify. I hope NP mods will let me express me...

First the FACTS:

- There is no need to create any account at domaining.com to can browse news and click headlines, it's FREE. And this is how it already works for weeks.

- What's NEW is that the membership is FREE AGAIN and this is the way it should be FOR EVER.

Some have recently seen a banner ad saying: "Who's the idiot that said domaining.com was not free?"
I give you a "secret" (that several guessed):
This idiot was ME and only ME!

Why this change?

Because only true idiots (I hope to have a second chance) don't change their mind.
I hear all the comments and critics.
In a first time I admit I pested in silence...
But I finished realizing it's me who was in the error taking a very bad direction.

So a special THANKS to all those that expressed their voice and opened my eyes!

...

This last week I have been working hand in the hand with Jamie of DotWeekly.com (that I thanks again) to create/test new features that were in my TODO list for almost one year:
- The possibility to add your own feeds.
- The possibility to edit the list of feeds you want to see and even create personal lists.
- The possibility to bookmark headlines and ad it to "My Favorites".
- An RSS feed of the latest headlines.
- A widget to can show domaining headlines in your own site.
...
By the way headlines of the members area are no longer filtered, you are now the one who decide which blogger you want to watch headlines or no.

You are invited to test the new version and continue to comment, critic, ... because as you seen I hear.

Francois

Hi Francois
indeed your site was criticised A LOT to the other topic.

However you don't have to blame yourself too hard.
You choose to go to a road that most of the people didn't like (including me, but i respected your decision).

That doesn't make you an idiot especially now that you admit you hear and care for the opinion of the other domainers.
That's the whole idea of internet. Hear, Care, Adapt and maybe Innovate (talking in general).

I paid. Are you giving refunds?

If you paid then you have access to the extra feature, still available, of receive in the daily newsletter the new featured domains 24 hours before the others, so if there is an opportunity you could buy it before is too late.

Now if for any reason you don't want to get advantage of this extra option just send me a PM indicating the email address you used to sign up:
- I will fully refund you or deposit this amount into your domaining.com account to can list featured domains.

At your convenience!

Just have in mind very soon the +60,000 webmasters and end-users that asked to have their "premium domain" valuated at DomainValuation.com and PremiumDomain.com will be invited to feature their domain for sale in domaining.com, so having this option active may pay... with the hard times we are all having it's strongly possible premium domain owners be willing to put for sale names that have never been put for sale previously.

An update:

We just released today for our members a new pane: "What's new at Twitter".
It show all the lastest tweets around domain names, domainers, domaining, ...
I like it, very interesting to see.

Feedback is welcome as it's the beta.

As a good gesture for your wishy washiness, you should cancel everyone's paypal subscription for them and refund their money and not wait til they realize they've got a subscription to something that's free again 2 years down the road.

free, not free, free - the saga continues ... :)

domaining.com lost me months ago when I had to sign up to read the news. Now get all my domain news in google reader.

FootOdors:
There is no PayPal subscriptions, those that paid made a single payment.
Also, most paid when the payment aim was to receive new featured names 24h before the crowd.

DoggyOwner:
Sorry for the hassles.

I guess you now have to offer incentives to get back the lost NPers.

Is the News Letter free again?

Great of you to post here and make changes to your site...

to those that are whining...he seems more than willing to make things right and anyone using the site should be happy he made the effort to give domainers a great tool on a domain most of you would park if you owned it.

HoleInone:

No incentives!
Incentives means you earn something for do some action.
The ones that find our service valuable are welcome to use it.
I don't see the interest to "force" people sign in if they don't like our service and after will not use it.

It's also trying to fight affiliates doing incentives we did the error to put a fee in our membership one month ago.
So please don't speak me about a practice we absolutely don't support.

Deet:

Yes the newsletter is free again, like the membership.

To sumarrize you only have to pay for these optional services:
- Receive featured names 24h before the crowd ... $15/year.
- List featured domains in our site and newsletter ... $5/name.
- Or as you may imagine, advertise (see our ad rates).

A great decision! I see this decision as a very smart move that proves you are an innovative businessman that listens to the public and that will continue to make you successful. You are not an idiot, to try and fail and is better than have never tried. You tried the paid memberships and it didn't work. You learned and you will be better because of it.

Thank you.

+1 to dotnom's comments.

However, at the moment, I'm not going to go to the hassle of re-subscribing, and I imagine there are a few others who think the same.
