Hi,
I registered TahmKench.com 2 months ago. Tahm Kench is a champion of the most popular online game on the world, League of Legends. There are around 130 champions I'll say and every few months a new one get out. (All the champions have been registered on .com). The day the developers revealed what is gonna be the next champion, I instantly registered it on .com. All the champions are played all the time, it has nothing to do with when they got released but the first months they are released they obviously are played the most because everyone wants to test them and so they have a very big interest by people, BUT again, they will ALWAYS have a big number of searches per month (50-100K) even when they are not very popular or not the strongest ones.
The first month the champion got released, "Tahm Kench" had 246K monthly searches for example and I think I had 1000 visitors the first day it got released even tho I had nothing on my website.

Since I am a terrible developer and I don't have anything to do with the domain, I was wondering if there is a strategy or something that I should use to make money from it.
I currently parked it at bodis but I have no experience with parking at all, how are people supposed to get there?
Is there anything I can do with the domain to get profit from it?
Thanks.
Gal

This domain will land you a UDRP/Lawsuit for Trademark infringement. If you don't want to deal with legal headaches later then I would delete the domain.

You have to be careful in the world of domains and not register or try to profit from other Trademarks, registered or not.

On the official company of the game's website, they're writing this:

Q: Can I use ads to make money from my free League of Legends website or mobile app?

A: We know that you might pour a ton of time and energy into building awesome experiences for your fellow players. If you want to recoup some of that time and energy, thatโ€™s perfectly understandable. For the most part weโ€™re fine with you bringing in ad revenue from distribution of your Project, so long as your Project is freely available to everyone. If, however, we find that youโ€™re using our IP in a way that we find inappropriate, we can still shut it down. No funny business, please.

Making money from your League of Legends website is one thing, owning a domain name that contains their Digital Property is another. I have never heard of a TM holder that allowed others to register domains that are clear violations of that TM. In order to retain a TM, the holder is required to protect that TM and that includes going after TM violators.

It wouldn't be worth the lawsuit to me. I am not a lawyer and not telling you what to do, but if it was me I would rather not be worrying every day if I am gonna get a legal action slapped on me.

Many people have registered domains that were violations of TM's without knowing. Sometimes you get away with it and sometimes you don't.

Most TM holders don't want people having their TM;s in a domain because it can cause confusion for the site visitors in thinking they are on an official site that is owned and/or operated by the TM owner.

I know you maybe don't have so much time to waste on it but did you read a bit of what they're writing from the link I've attached?

Yes, but I saw nothing that gives approval for owning domain names with their TM in them.

Did I miss that? Sometimes I read to quickly. LOL

It's a tough call for you I am sure. I really don't know that gaming world and the potential for $ potential for the name. There are many times when there are sites that are operating and get away with it. It's just that you have to weigh out if you want to take a chance.

If you think the name can generate good money then perhaps you should contact some kind of TM lawyer and see if it's ok or not. I am not a lawyer, I have just read a lot about it and have seen what happens to people and the stress and financial problems they can cause.

Unfortunately you can't claim ignorance of a law, including TM laws, and get off.

Maybe do some more research yourself to just help you decide one way or another as to what you want to do.
