Domain Trolls?

Do some people register domains just because they can with no intent to ever sell or use them?

I ask because someone has a domain I want and I have tried contacting them and no response.

I did some research and it appears they are using emails that they never check, fake phone numbers, private po boxes etc.

They have like 800 domains and not 1 of them resolves. And they are not super premium domains.

No listing on Sedo, Afternic etc

Yet they keep renewing every domain and have yet to let 1 drop.

Surely if they were a domainer, they would make themselves able to be reached or at least park with for sale sign.

And If they were an enduser they would not have this many domains.

So Is this person a domain troll?

Some people clearly have no experience in this .biz.
There are a LOT of great domains not resolving. And There are a LOT of different individuals with totally different behaviours, some of them might look weird to you. Also One reason is that some people want to minimize the risk of UDRP,Legal problems, etc. so they don't even park anywhere. Another reason was already mentioned, collectors, RICH collectors who are not even interested to talk to you and any domainer at all, unless you make their day with a 1 Million Dollar offer after trying days and weeks to contact them and ended up begging them to sell them the domain.
Some don't even check their emails once a month.

I bet the guy with Germany.com WILL sell, IF he receives an x.xxx.xxx Offer. He just wants to "filter" the middle-man, the domainers, and all those who are not able/willing to spend real money and those who don't try and try again to convince him, because they BADLY need that domain, and ONLY that domain. Actually i really like his page with the cat and the comment that he is not willing to sell and we shouldn't even ask. Very good businessman hiding there behind that crap looking page. He is just waiting for the right company.

There are so many different reasons and different people out there in the world. Don't think everyone is like you.

These "cat" sites are a foil to show "usage" in case of TM issues or an UDRP

These guys know what they want for their "site" (domain).
They've held onto the domain since the late 1990's not by accident...
But the buyer will need to show their hand first...

Look on the bright side, very likely, at least their accept price will be lower than if the owner is Marchex, Scwartzy, Schillster, Ham-ster, Berkster... LOL

The germany.com & others who own great names get TONS of inquiries from tons of Johnny-cum-latelie nonces who think they have found a fool/mark
The usual crap:
"Is this for sale? How much is it? blabla...zzz"

Guess what - joke's on them (inquirer). LOL

All a waste of time to even reply

Do a quick Google search of these typical inquirers details from the email & you know their whole pathetic lives lived on the internet within 2 mins (Youtube channel, Facebook, other social sites, etc)
These types don't have a pot to pi$$ in.
