This auction will contain domains not sold in the January auction with a host of brand new names with reserves of $250 or below!

Can they do that? How to opt out of my unsold domains entering this new auction?

was that in the contract? maybe they are just doing it to those who resubmitted the same names?

I haven't read the contract :) But it is on their website. I think their last sale was a dismal failure. So I don't want my domains going into this sale and locking up for another... err.. 60 days.

Domain names that made it "in" to the January auction are locked under contract until March 2. The domain names that did not sell, DomainTools has every right in this time frame to offer the domain for sale, as long as the price/location is fitting with the contract the user agreed upon.

If your domain didn't sell in the first auction and it goes into the Feb auction, I would consider it a 2 for 1 deal for the seller. It's not like Jay is charging double commission and he is trying his hardest to "sell" your domain etc.

Ok. Just so long as it doesn't extend the lock on the domain, then I'll accept it. I don't think many will sell since 1) they didn't sell last time, and 2) they have lowered the min bid to $250 for other domains. Will the accepted domains be automatically transferred to this auction or is seller intervention required?

so you essentially end up giving DT free reins over your domains and their reserves.

Nice.

No.

The domains and your reserves are set. If you recall, if your domain made it into auction and did not sell, it was subject to a 10% price reduction. That's It.

So if you had submitted a domain for $1,000 and it was listed in the Jan auction and did not sell. If Jay selects it for the Feb auction, it's likely to be in at $900, but nothing less then that.

Hope this helps to clear things up a little.

What about $250 reserve ? is'nt that the maximum reserve for Feb auction ?

That would be silly IMO. So I would say no. He is just accepting domains as low as $250 for a reserve, but if you have one for $1 Million, and it's worth it, I'm sure it would be in....

I also read it that the $250 is for new submissions and not existing ones. However, I cannot seem to add or modify anything at all today on their site.

I don’t know how many I will accept, but if I think the domain is worth over $2000 and the reserve is listed at $250 I will pop it into the auction.
So it is $250 reserve Max.
~Not sure if I know many people that take these kinds of risks really? Not a huge turnout with the last auction for me to do this... I can understand Jay wants to intice bidding, but not sure if this is the approach?

This could be well equal even way lower quality domains then the last auction, and that auctions didn't turn that many domains "Pink".(sold)

Man these auctions can get frustrating!!!

A domain with a $250 reserve? Would be foolish to risk a high-quality name with a reserve like that. You can get that kind of price advertising in forum threads. And a number of $250 reserve names would suggest lower quality domains. Which leads to a dull/dead auction.

Update

Posted by Jay on his blog..

We are holding a February 29th live auction. The criteria is pretty simple, we are looking for the best domains at or under $250 reserves. I don’t know how many I will accept, but if I think the domain is worth over $2000 and the reserve is listed at $250 I will pop it into the auction. We will also features all domains not sold in the January auction. There is no holding period on the domains if domains don’t sell in the auction and the commission is the standard 10%. There is no fee for listing, only commission if the domain sells. Now is the perfect time to submit some killer low value domains.

The full catalog is available now but will close on February 22nd, we will continue to add things to the list as we select them. Bidding is currently open and submission is currently open. The gavel goes down at 11am on February 29th PST.

For those of you that have premium/generic domains. We are currently accepting domains for the Domain Roundtable live auction.

Add a domain either auction right now.

All Jay had to do, was Simply Pick Better Domains! Now he goes a totally different route. I don't get it......

He said himself after the last flopped auction, that he needed to pick better domain. Then he said again, note to self.. Pick Better Domains..

Now he's only taking $250 max reserves.... I didn't see that in his posting after the last auction.

I had the exact same troubles yesterday with modifying / adding listings, IMHO ... but I think I made some progress today (though there are now "Lot #'s" in place of the actual "domain names" on the left-hand side)? :guilty: :red:

Mine are all in at $250 now (new -and- existing), but I believe I have until the 22nd to see what has been accepted or not and then to amend or omit as needed. :gl:
Lots of questions, but hopefully we'll all stay in touch here in this space with important updates, etc! :music:

Thanks.
