i wondering, if there an available domain (.com) in expired domain, and the name is refer to a real company. would that be a good or bad sign, and how would o know? one more question "will they probably need a domain but why don't they just register it by their own?"

Depends.

how would o know?
You'd know it's a good sign if multiple companies use the same name.

will they probably need a domain
Most likely, they won't need it. But maybe they'll want it.

why don't they just register it by their own?
It may not have been available for registration at the time they last checked.

Every day, domains expire and become available for registration again.

Good questions.

At any one time, there are probably thousands of .com domains available to register that match an existing business. If they don't have an existing website then often their business doesn't justify one. These small businesses are generally direct customer facing enterprises. The repetitive cost of the domain, updates, and hosting just aren't justified. Why set-up a 24 hour sales channel and all that involves when your content with existing sales. Most would probably be satisfied with just an ebay outlet if they wanted to go online.
